Gagan Ajit Singh to Make Come Back in World Series Hockey

The scheduled second round of the player draft for World Series Hockey was held today, with each team strengthening their squads from the pool of players. The first season of WSH starts on the 29th of February.

In this draft, players from Australia, Argentina, Canada, Germany, Malaysia, South Africa & India were picked by the various franchises.

Among the notable picks of the day, Canadian captain Ken Pereira was chosen by Pune Strykers while Australian Mark Harris and Indian Hamza Mujtaba got selected by Chennai Cheetahs. South African Olympian Clyde Abraham was picked by Mumbai Marines while Gagan Ajit Singh, the ace Indian striker, will make his comeback into hockey with Sher-e-Punjab.

Gagan Ajit Singh said, “I’m glad to make a comeback through this prestigious league. I truly believe it will start a glorious new era for Indian hockey and I can’t wait to get started for Sher-e-Punjab. It is a team with a great combination of speed and spirit and I’m sure we’ll play entertaining hockey which will make us championship contenders.”

With outstanding leadership at the top in the form of Jose Brasa & Brent Livermore, coupled with the addition of these players who will merge into a squad full of youth and experience, Chennai Cheetahs is well placed to make a serious challenge for the title”

WSH Mumbai team reveals new identity 

The Mumbai franchise of World Series Hockey has been rebranded as Mumbai Marines. The brand identity has been specially designed to incorporate the core values of the team – dynamism, stability and a strong city affiliation.

Mumbai-Marines-LogoMumbai has a proud legacy of Hockey and the team boasts of some of the finest players. Adrian D’ Souza, one of the world’s best goalkeepers will captain the side and be ably supported by two former India captains, Viren Rasquinha and Prabodh Tirkey.

Exciting young Indian players like the Walmiki brothers, Yuvraj and Devender, along with International superstars like Pedro Ibarra (Argentina), Sung Min Lee (South Korea), Melchior Looijen (Netherlands), Phelie Maguire (Ireland), Connor Grimes (Canada) and Juan Martin Lopez (Argentina) makes Mumbai Marines a world class squad.
