India Women Hockey Team to leave for Spain for Valencia test series

The India Women Hockey Team is all set to leave for Spain to play matches at Valencia from 10 – 24 February 2015. The preparatory camp for the tour had commenced on 10 January 2015 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Delhi. The series is in preparation for the FIH World League Round 2, to be held in New Delhi from 7 – 15 March, 2015. The team will be led by Captain Ritu Rani and Deepika will be the Vice-Captain.

During the fifteen day tour, the Indian team will be playing two matches with Spain on 14th and 16th February, followed by two with Dutch hockey clubs, GCHC (19th February) and HDM (20th February). Two matches are also slated to be played with Germany (22nd and 23rd February) giving the team a holistic experience of working against varied strategies. The Test matches will also provide ground to the entire team to work on their skills and perfect their team coordination. Continue reading →

Irish Women Beat Spain, Men Lost to Malaysia

The Electric Ireland Irish Senior Women’s Squad beat Spain 1-0 today courtesy of Anna O’Flanagan’s 3rd goal for the Green Army as Ireland wrapped up their training camp and their preparations for the upcoming FIH World League 2. The two sides had met twice already this week with Spain winning the first two encounters by score lines of 2-0 and 2-1.

Ritu Rani to Lead Indian Women’s Team at World Hockey League Round 2 in Delhi

NEW DELHI, 5 February 2013: Ritu Rani will lead Indian Women’s Hockey team at World Hockey League Round to be held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi from 18- 24 February 2013, and Chanchan Devi will be her deputy.

Hockey India announced the team after the selection trials for the team were conducted at Netaji Subash National Institute of Sports, Patiala on 19 January 2013. Th trials were witnessed by Hockey India Selectors Col. Balbir Singh and Surinder Kaur alongwith Government Observer Harbinder Singh and Chief Coach Neil Hawgood.

The camp for the preparations of the Hero Hockey World league Round 2 is already in progress from 4 January 2013 and will continue till the commencement of the tournament. Continue reading →
