21 March 2014: The 4th edition of the Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 is all set to commence on 24th March 2014 in Chennai. The matches will be played at two venues SDAT Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium and YMCA Nandanam Hockey Stadium.
This year 3 additional teams will be competing for the top honours at the championship, which will be played in two-phase this year i.e A Division and B Division. 16 teams in Division A will compete in for pools to find a place in final four and then fight for the tile while Division B will see 19 teams competing for the places in A Division of next edition and the title of B-Division this year. 14 March 2014: On the 2nd day of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship (A-Division), Vidarbha Hockey Association rain 11 goals on team Goa in Pool A, while Himachal Pradesh crushed Jammu & Kashmir 12-0, Rajasthan beat Puducherry 6-0 and Assam edged past Bengal 1-0.

After Captain Roshni Kupale scored the first goal for her team, Vidarbha Hockey Association, in the 16th minute it was Sarika Malkhede who scored a hat-trick goal. While 2 goals came before the end of 1st half right after the start of 2nd half she scored her third goal for her team.
Post that it was Sarita Malkhede who went on to score a hat-trick goal which she delivered within 6 minutes and came in the 43rd, 47th and 48th minute. After that it was again Sarika Malkhede who added another 2 goals to tally in the 53rd and 62nd minute. This helped Vidarbha Hockey Association take an easy win over Goa. Continue reading →
07 March 2014: Manipur and Chhattisgarh have confirmed their places in the semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Chamundi Vihar Hockey Ground in Mysore today.

In their last league match of Pool A, Manipur registered their third win in a row defeating Vidarbha Hockey Association 6-0.
Manipur took a decent 2-0 lead in the first half of the game when Sonia Devi scored at the 17th minute and Captain Gitarani Devi scoring at the 22nd minute. The second half of the game saw, Manipur girls going all out and closing the game with a 6-0 victory over Vidarbha Hockey Association, where Bidyarani Devi scored two goals at 39th and 47th minute and Sonia Devi took her total of goals to three by scoring two more goals at 49th and 60th minute. 5th March 2014: The 4th edition of the Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 underway in Mysore, Karnataka and will conclude on 23rd March 2014.
The tournament will see 32 teams competing in two phases i.e. 16 teams in each of the Division A and B. The Division B of the championship started today i.e. 5th March and will conclude on 13 March 2014 while Division A will be played from 15- 23 March 2014.
This edition will see two new teams including Hockey Gangpur- Odisha and Vidarbha Hockey Association at the newly laid Astro Turf at Chamundi Stadium, Nazarabad, Mysore.
After a heavy rain on Tuesday, it was Manipur women, who rained 24 goals against Tripura. For Manipur it was Sarita Devi who led from the front and the scored as many as nine goals in a Pool A match on the first of the tournament. Continue reading →
Hockey Gangpur-Odisha registered 5th consecutive victory in as many matches to seal their place in semi-final of the B Division of 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship being played in Lucknow.

Chhattisgarh defeated Kerala in a thriller to reach the top of Pool D, but their place in semi final will be dependent on the result of the match between Maharashtra and Delhi to be played tomorrow. Chhattisgarh will be in semis if Maharashtra fails to score a victory, otherwise Maharashtra will be through to final four.
In the first match of the day the audience witnessed Chhattisgarh Hockey defeating Kerala in a thrilling match. At half time when the scores were 2-0 with Hockey Kerala leading the scoreboard nobody could have expected Chhattisgarh to make a strong comeback and going on to win the match 3 goals to 2. Today, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh won their respective matches in Pool D to keep themselves in race for a place in semis of the B Division of 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship being played at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in Lucknow.

In the other match of the day, Bengal blanked Mizoram 5-0 with help of hat trick from Susheel Gupta in a Pool C league match. In the second consecutive win for Bengal, Asheesh Sengar and Sunil Shah scored a goal each to complete the tally. Bengal goalkeeper Bappa Saha denied any scoring opportunity to the opponents.
While during the match where Maharashtra took on Vidarbha Hockey Association, Kunal Jagdale struck three goals for Maharashtra to register a 6-1 win against Vidarbha Hockey Association in their Pool D league match. Continue reading →
