Women’s Hockey team of Railway Sports Promotion Board won the 5th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2015 (Division A) at SAFAI (Uttar Pradesh ) to make it double title for their employer. Railway Sports Promotion Board today won the championship of the 5th Senior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Men) Div- A as the defeated Uttar Pradesh Hockey by 5-3 in the highly-contested final match in Pune. In the Bronze Medal match, Air India Sports Promotion Board (AISPB) outplayed Hockey Gangpur-Odisha by 5-3 to finish at 3rd position in the tournament.

The ongoing 35th National Games today saw Men Hockey teams playing for the semi-final spot at the New Hockey Stadium, Kollam (Kerala), Jharkhand and Haryana topped their Pools ‘A’ and ‘B’ respectively to set semi finals against Services and Odisha respectively. The semi-finals will be played on 10th February 2015 where all four teams will look at beating the opponent and reaching the Finale of the prestigious 35th National Games.

In Pool ‘A’, Jharkhand, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh won two matches each and locked at 4 points each, but on the basis of better goal difference, Jharkhand and Odisha advanced to final four. Haryana were the clear winners in Pool ‘B’ with 5 points from two wins and a draw, followed by Services with 4 points from two wins in three matches. New Delhi, 27 October 2014: Olympian Maharaj Krishan Kaushik (MK Kaushik) has been appointed as the Manager, High Performance (Central Zone) by Hockey India.

Kaushik, who was the coach of the Indian Men Hockey team that won Gold medal at the recently concluded 17th Asian Games 2014 in Incheon, South Korea will be seen in a new role from 1 November 2014.
Kaushik as the Manager, High Performance will soon start monitoring all domestic activities in the central zone consisting of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
MK Kaushik was the member of the 1980 Olympics Gold Medal winning Indian Men Hockey team, had also coached both the Indian men and women teams. Under his coaching, India men team won their last major international tournament – the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok. In the same year, he received the prestigious Arjuna Award. In 2006, the Indian women team won Bronze medal in the Doha Asian Games under his coaching. Continue reading →
