The Indian Men Hockey development team registered their third consecutive victory over Bangladesh to win the three-match series by 3-0. Team India continued their winning spree and defeated the host nation by 3-1 in the last match played at Dhaka today.

The positives from the series could be seen as the experience for some of the young players and a good starting for the coaching career of Tushar Khandker, while it was pleasing to see Arjun Halappa in supportive role and Harendra Singh also accompanying the team to Dhaka.
After winning first two matches by 2-1 and 5-1 India started the match with their attacking game and scored their first goal in 6th minute through forward Yuvraj Walmiki. Former Indian Hockey captain Sandeep Singh and current captain Sardar Singh have been nominated for the most prestigious sports award in India i.e. Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. The ace drag flicker Sandeep Singh is recommended by his state “Haryana” government while his state-mate Sardar Singh is nominated by Hockey India.
Hockey India has also recommended Selector and Olympian Syed Ali for the Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award 2013.
Danish Mujtaba (Captain of the Indian Men Hockey Team during the 22nd Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, Malaysia in March 2013), VR Raghunath (Current Vice-Captain of Indian Men Hockey Team), forward Tushar Khandekar and Bharat Chetri (former Indian Captain) have been recommended for the Arjuna Award 2013 in the men’s category. Opening game of Blue Pitch, similar to London Olympics, Santander, offered an exciting battle between home side Spain and Eight times Olympics Gold Medalists India which ended in 3-3 draw. Tushar Khandkar, Gurwinder Singh Chandi and SK Utthappa scored for India.

Speedy and skillful Indian team controlled the game and took the lead through Tushar Khandkar’s deflection on SV Sunil’s cross in 11th minute of the match but, but Edi Tubau drew the parity on a pass from David Alegre in 24th minute and Sergi Enrique made it 2-1 by converting a penalty stroke in favor of Spanish side to the much delight house full stands. However, World Number 10 side India’s forward Gurvinder Singh Chandi sent the ball home on a rebound from Spanish Goalie Cortes’s pad on a penalty corner just before the end of the first half to make it 2-2 and went in lemon break with scores level. 28 Indian Players including the top stars from the current national team have signed on to play in the inaugural session of cash rich Hockey India League. Initial 28 contracts were signed between Hockey India and players in Pune on Thursday 7 June 2012.
In the list of 28 players who have signed on to play in the league includes Indian forward Shivendra Singh, Tushar Khandker ,Yuvraj Walmiki and others.
