Debutants Gangpur and Vidarbha Start Nationals on Winning Note

Debutant teams Hockey Gangpur- Odisha and Vidarbha Hockey Association started their campaign on a winning note in Division B of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship commenced at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow on today.

As many as 42 teams, including four debutants namely Hockey Gangpur- Odisha, Vidarbha Hockey Association, Central Reserve Police Force and Food Corporation of India, are participating in the 2014 edition of the championship which is being played on a league cum knockout basis at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow. Chandigarh, Maharashtra and Gujarat Won on 8th day of Junior Men Hockey Nationals 2013

9 June 2013: Chandigarh easily defeated Goa 17-0 in their Pool H league match of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2013 being played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat.

Chandigarh scored through Kanwaldeep Singh (12 min), Sahepreet Singh (17, 44, 46, 52, 53, 69 min), Gursewak Singh (21 min), Harpreet Singh (23, 28 min), Gagandeep Singh (24 min), Sukhjeet Singh (34 min), Amrit Pal Singh (35 min), Baljot Singh (43 min), Own Goal (54 min) and Narinder Pal Singh (58, 67 min).

The Hockey Maharashtra scored four goals in each half to register second consecutive win in their Pool H league match, as they defeated Tripura 8-0. Continue reading →

Delhi in Quarters of Junior Men’s Hockey Nationals 2013

8 June 2013: Delhi entered the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat on Saturday.

Delhi registered a second consecutive win in Pool-D, as they defeated Andhra Pradesh 4-1. After conceding an early goal in the first half, Delhi came from behind and scored four goals in the other half. Turning point came in the match when Jugraj Singh scored the opening goal for Delhi in the 36th minute after which Delhi scored another three goals. Madhya Pradesh Reach Quarters of Junior Hockey Nationals 2013

7 June 2013: Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy became the fourth team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship being played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat (Haryana).

Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy defeated Bihar 11-1 in their last league match of Pool G to join hosts Haryana, Punjab and SAI in quarter-finals. Madhya Pradesh scored through Mohammad Nizamuddin (4 min), Izhar Qureshi (1, 9, 36 min), Sumit Patel (25 min), Mohammad Umar (27 min), Amir Shafique (33 min), Abhay Yadav (56 min), Nicky Kaushal (63, 68 min) and Arjun Sharma (64 min) while Bihar’s only reply came from Raushav Kumar (61 min) . Services Scored Big Win on Day 5 of Pune Hockey Nationals 2013

New Delhi, 1 June 2013: Services started their campaign of Pune Hockey Nationals 2013 on a winning note defeating Goa 28-0 in their first league match of Pool C played at Shiv Chattrapati Sports Complex in Pune on Saturday.

Services scored through Siraju AP (7, 13, 25, 26, 32, 61 min), Ved Prakash (16, 69 min), Sanwar (Ali 22, 31, 33, 51, 52, 53, 56, 57 min), Ignace Tirkey (23, 28 min), Lovepreet Singh (29, 34, 38, 49 min), Johnny Jasrotia (48 min), K Hera Singh (54, 59 min), Rajesh Kumar (58 min) and S Arumugam (62, 64 min while Goa failed to score any goal.

Andaman & Nicobar hold UP, Punjab, Air India, Mumbai, SSB, and Tamil Nadu Win on Day 4 of Pune Hockey Nationals 2013

New Delhi, 31 May 2013: Defending Champions Punjab start their campaign with a big win over Gujarat 30-0 in their opening league match of Pool A in the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship played at Shiv Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex in Pune on Friday.

Experienced side Punjab started their game on attacking mode and successfully built pressure on their opponents. Forward Vikramjit Singh scored maximum seven goals for Punjab followed by Simranjit Singh (6), Inderjeet Singh (5), Sarvanjit Singh (4), Ravi Pal (3), Jarnail Singh (3), Vikas Sharma (1) and Sandeep Singh (1).

Air India overwhelmed Tripura 13-0 to maintain their unbeaten run in the Pool B. For Air India, Skipper Arjun Halappa and Swamy Vinaya scored three goals each followed by Vikram Pillay (2), Affan Yousuf (2), Pradhan Somanna (2) and Subbaiah Darshan (1). Continue reading →
