Debutants Gangpur and Vidarbha Start Nationals on Winning Note

Hockey India LogoDebutant teams Hockey Gangpur- Odisha and Vidarbha Hockey Association started their campaign on a winning note in Division B of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship commenced at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow on today.

As many as 42 teams, including four debutants namely Hockey Gangpur- Odisha, Vidarbha Hockey Association, Central Reserve Police Force and Food Corporation of India, are participating in the 2014 edition of the championship which is being played on a league cum knockout basis at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow. Chandigarh, Maharashtra and Gujarat Won on 8th day of Junior Men Hockey Nationals 2013

9 June 2013: Chandigarh easily defeated Goa 17-0 in their Pool H league match of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2013 being played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat.

Delhi in Quarters of Junior Men’s Hockey Nationals 2013

8 June 2013: Delhi entered the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat on Saturday.

Delhi registered a second consecutive win in Pool-D, as they defeated Andhra Pradesh 4-1. After conceding an early goal in the first half, Delhi came from behind and scored four goals in the other half. Turning point came in the match when Jugraj Singh scored the opening goal for Delhi in the 36th minute after which Delhi scored another three goals. 7 June 2013: Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy became the fourth team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship being played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat (Haryana).

The Fans of HockeyMadhya Pradesh Hockey Academy defeated Bihar 11-1 in their last league match of Pool G to join hosts Haryana, Punjab and SAI in quarter-finals. Experienced side Punjab started their game on attacking mode and successfully built pressure on their opponents. Forward Vikramjit Singh scored maximum seven goals for Punjab followed by Simranjit Singh (6), Inderjeet Singh (5), Sarvanjit Singh (4), Ravi Pal (3), Jarnail Singh (3), Vikas Sharma (1) and Sandeep Singh (1).
