Vandana Scored 4 as India Outclass Ghana by 13-0 in FIH World League 2 in Delhi

Hosts India dominated their first match of the FIH Hockey World League Round 2 (Women) against Ghana and recorded a thumping 13-0 victory as forward Vandana Katariya scored 4 goals. Earlier in the day, Poland defeated Thailand by 4-1 in another Pool B game, while Malaysia and Russia scored 8-0 and 7-0 victories over Kazakhstan and Singapore respectively in Pool A.

India kept the pressure on Ghana from the moment the game started. It was Deepika’s pass to Vandana Katariya at the D which was cleverly deflected by the latter into the nets, giving India the first goal in the eighth minute. Next minute India was again in the D of Ghana and this time it was Monika who got a clean pass in the D, slapped the ball into the nets, doubling the lead for the team. Ghana looking at opening their account won a penalty corner the very next minute but the fumble made them loose the opportunity to close the goal gap. With a chance to take the lead further, seconds left for the end of the first quarter India got a penalty corner to their name. Hosts India and other teams are ready for FIH World League 2 in New Delhi

High on confidence host India’s Women Hockey Team was seen practicing before FIH Hockey World League Round 2 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, to be held from March 7-14 in the capital city. Other participating teams were also seen brushing their preparations for the tournament.

Malaysia, placed in Pool B will take on Kazakhstan in the opening match of the league scheduled for 7 March 2015, India, placed in Pool A is all geared up to lock horns with Ghana in the last match opening day with an aim to outwit the opponents and hoping to make an impact in front of the home fans. Clash between Pool A teams, Thailand and Poland in the third match and Russia and Singapore in the second match will complete the day.

All of the teams will not only play to seal their positions in the finals but will also confirm their way for a safe passage through to the FIH Hockey World League Round 3 in order to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. With an aim to begin their campaign in the League with a win, the teams are making significant efforts to put their line-up and field plan in place. The players seemed focus and determined for their respective encounters and polished their skills undergoing training to show a valiant game of hockey in the much awaited FIH Hockey Word League Round 2. Indian Women’s Hockey Team for FIH World League Round 2 is Known

Indian Women’s Hockey Team is known for FIH World League Round 2 which is scheduled to be played at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi from 7th March to 15th March 2015. The league featuring eight teams is divided in Pool A and Pool B.

The 18 member Indian squad will be captained by the very proficient midfielder Ritu Rani who has to her credit of 193 International caps. Deepika, who has donned Indian jersey 138 times will be her deputy. India ready to host FIH World League Round – 2 (Women) from March 7

The FIH World League Round – 2 (Women) is all set to make a start on the 7th of March 2015 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi in India. The turf will witness eight international women hockey teams take on each other with the sole objective to win and advance to the semi finals of the League.

The Indian Women Hockey Team was touring Spain to play matches in preparation for the FIH World League Round 2. Playing five games at Valencia, two against Spain, one each against the two Dutch hockey clubs – GCHC and HDM and Germany, the team India was seen giving a tough fight to their opponents on the foreign turf prior to the upcoming FIH World League Round 2. The girls from India were appreciated for their on-ground skills and team coordination as they dished out some noticeable performances at Spain.

The League holds importance as each team will look at winning and going on to play the World League Round 3 which is the final stage of qualification for the 2016 RIO Olympics. Indian Women beat Thailand 3-0, Men looking to continue Winning streak

Facing Thailand in their opening match of the 17th Asian Games today, the Indian Women Hockey Team starts their outing with a 3-0 win to earn full 3 points from the opener at Soenhak Hockey Stadium in Incheon. Yesterday, their men counter part defeated Sri Lanka 8-0 to start campaign on winning note.

Converting one penalty corner each successfully, it was Poonam Rani and Vice-Captain Deepika and a field goal from Vandana Katariya, ensured a 3-0 victory against Thailand and registering the team’s first win in the tournament.

Opening the first quarter, India had to wait until the 14th minute when Poonam Rani scored on set-piece in a penalty corner opportunity and opening the account for India. In the second quarter, the Thai defence stood strong and did not let India score any goal. Continue reading →
