In the final match of the six-match test series, the Junior Women Hockey Team of India and future Black Sticks played a 2-2 draw at the TET Multisports Centre, Stratford. With yet another draw, hosts won the finished with series with 3 wins, while India failed to win any match.
There was plenty of action right from the beginning as both the teams went off with an attacking approach in the entire match. Both the teams made desperate efforts and gave each other a tough fight to score the opening goal of the match until New Zealand’s Felicity Reidy made the breakthrough for her team and opened the account at 1-0. The Future Black Sticks Women scored two goals in the last six minutes to secure a 3-3 draw in game five against the India Juniors at TET Multisport Centre in Stratford.
New Zealand’s opening goal came from Canterbury’s Rachel McCann before the Indians responded and took control, holding onto a 3-1 lead late in the game.
With something special needed, Black Sticks head coach Jude Menezes substituted goalkeeper Brooke Roberts for an extra field player which freed up space for Su Arn Kwek to score with six minutes on the clock. Continue reading →
The Future Black Sticks Women have comfortably won the series against the India Juniors, with another two games still to play at the TET Multisports Centre in Stratford with 3 wins and a draw from 4 matches.
Riding on goals from Siobhan Nuzum, Tessa Jopp and Felicity Reidy, the Kiwi girls won 4th test match of the 6 match series by 3-2 to pocket the series.

New Zealand, 08 November 2014: The Future Black Sticks Women have won 5-0 against the India Juniors today, backing up an earlier win and a draw in the series being held at the TET Multisports Centre in Stratford.
The first half of the match saw a defensive game from the Indian division, but slipped away two penalty corners in New Zealand‘s favor which were successfully converted by Siobhan Nuzum and Su Arn Kwek, giving them a 2-0 lead by the end of the first half. The Junior Black Sticks Women were seen to on an attacking spree from the very beginning of the game and held the Indian Junior Women Hockey team back from opening their goal account in the match. New Zealand, 06 November 2014: The Junior Women Hockey Team of India put up a tough fight in the ongoing series against New Zealand today and held the hosts 2-2 in their second match of the six-match test series being played at the TET Multisports Centre, Stratford after losing 1st Match by 1-2.
The junior black sticks women had a good start to the game as Kelsey Smith scored the initial goal of the match, giving the hosts a lead of 1-0 in the first half itself. India made desperate attempts to score but, given the strong defense line of the opponents, could not succeed in putting the ball in the net. Future Black Sticks, i.e. Junior New Zealand team defeated Indian women’s in the opening of 6 match series at TET Multisports Centre, Stratford (New Zealand).
The game saw both the teams giving a hard time to each other every time one of the teams tried penetrating the opponent’s D, as the game witnessed the defence of both the teams at an all time high.
