Jalandhar November 9, 2014: Last edition’s runners-up Indian Oil defeated defending champions Punjab & Sind Bank (5-2) to emerge 4th time winner of the 31st Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today.

The Winners bagged Rs 5 Lakh and Trophy where as Runners-up got Rs 2.50 Lakh and Trophy. Today in the first semi finals Holders Punjab & Sind Bank beat Army XI by 3-2 in tough fight and in second semi finals Indian Oil defeated Punjab XI (Pakistan) by 4-2 to reserve place in the finals at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here. Punjab & Sind Bank entered in the finals for the 16th time and Indian Oil reserve berth for the 9th time. Both teams facing each other in the Surjit Hockey Tournament finals for the third time. RCF Kapurthala won the Women’s Surjit Hockey Tournament

Jalandhar November 7, 2014: Star Studded Rail Coach Factory (RCF Kapurthala) clinched the title in women section of 31st Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here by beating Haryana XI via penalty shoot-out by 3-2.

Both teams were locked 1-1 at the end of stipulated time. The winners bagged Rs One Lakh and glittering trophy where as Runners-up got richer by Rs 51 thousand and trophy from the Chief Guest of the match Olympian Pargat Singh (MLA Jalandhar Cantt). Jalandhar November 6, 2014: Haryana-XI will take on RCF Kapurthala in Women Finals of the 31st Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament, while in Men’s Semi finals defending champions Punjab & Sind Bank will face Army XI and Punjab XI (Pakistan) will lock horns with Indian Oil Mumbai on 8 November at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium.

Today Haryana XI beat Rest of Pakistan by 5-0 to jump ahead of Punjab XI on the basis of better goal average and booked a place women’s finals against RCF Kapurthala will be played on 7th November at 5-00 PM. Punjab-XI and Haryana-XI earned 4 points each from three outings each.

Though in the Pakistani girls lost this match by 5-0, but today their exhibited good hockey, well coordination but for their poor finishing, they failed to score. In the Men sections, Indain Oil defeated Indian Overseas Bank by 4-1 and Army XI defeated Bharat Petroleum 3-2 to entered semi finals of the tournament from their respective pools.

In the men section of the tournament, last year’s rumnners up Indian Oil, Mumbai defeated indian Overseas Bank by 4-1. The bankers took the lead in the 5th minute of the game when they earned their first penalty corner. Their penalty corner expert D Matthuselvan did not make any mistake to find the target. In the other match in men section CAG Delhi and Namdhari XI Sirsa locked at 1-1 and earned one point each, while in Women Section With the help of hat-trick of Narinder Kaur, Punjab XI (India) beat Rest of Pakistan by 4-0 to earn three points in round robin league fixtures.

In men section league match in Pool C Star studded Punjab Xi (Pakistan) displayed controlled and fast hockey in their first encounter against Punjab National Bank. In the very first minute of the play Punjab XI (Pakistan) took lead with the field goal scored by Moh. Afzal (1-0).
