In Semis of Sr Nationals (B Division): Namdhari XI vs Gangpur and Mumbai vs Maharashtra

10 March 2014: Namdhari XI and Mumbai emerged as the pool winners of Pool A and Pool B respectively, thus setting up semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) against Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Maharashtra.

The semi-finals will be played on 12th March (Wednesday) at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow, while Division A of the tournament gets underway on 11th March at the same stadium.

Namdhari and Mumbai on winning spree in Sr Nationals (B Division)

9 March 2014: Namdhari XI and Mumbai registered their third consecutive victories on the day 11 of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

In a Pool A match between Namdhari XI and Bihar, Karandeep Singh Dhillon of Namdhari alone pocketed 4 goals for the team at 8th, 16th, 25th and 64th minute of the game followed by Baljot Singh’s two goals at 15th and 47th minute. Naveen Minz, Bhim Kumar and Mangra Bhengra of Bihar only managed to strike one goal each at 12th, 40th and 51st minute of the game. 8 March 2014: Teams of Pool A saw the clash of Rajasthan and Gujarat where the former won the match by 3-2 and with this win Rajasthan earned their first 3 points at Division B of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow today.

Namdhari XI starts Sr Nationals Campaign with big Win

7 March 2014: Namdhari XI, Bihar, Mumbai and Uttarakhand won their respective matches on the day-9 of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

In Pool A, Namdhari XI registered an easy win against Gujarat by leaving them behind with a score of 9-0 on board. Namdhari XI claimed their first win in their very first match of the pool leaving Gujarat with yet another loss. Namdhari XI went all out from the very beginning of the match, where Bhagat Singh Dhillon scored two goals at 5th and the 15th minute of the game by converting both the penalty corners followed by the field goals by Santa Singh at 27thminute and Captain Kuldeep Singh at 29th minute taking the score to 4-0 in the first half of the game. Bihar, Uttarakhand, Sashastra Seema Bal and Himachal Pradesh from Pool A and B started their 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) campaign on winning note at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

The first match played between Bihar and Gujarat witnessed Bihar going all out from the very start. Though, Gujarat’s Krushsingh Zala scored the very first goal of the game at the 9th minute, it was Bihar’s Md Reyazuddin, Naveen Minz and Mangra Bhengra who in return scored at the 11th, 14th and 21st minute respectively, to take the lead by 3-1 in the first half of the match. Gujarat played a defensive game in the second half of the game but couldn’t stop Bihar’s Naveen Minz from scoring another goal at 40th minute and wrapping the game at 4 goals to 1. Maharashtra in Semi Finals of B Div-Sr Hockey Nationals

Maharashtra played out a tough 3-3 draw against Delhi at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow on day-7 of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) to secure themselves a place in semi finals.

Hockey India LogoPost the match both Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh are placed with 11 points each on the table in Pool D. But Maharashta piped Chhattisgarh in points table on the basis of goal difference to qualify for the semi-finals. While Hockey Gangpur – Odisha, having 15 points in their kitty, have entered the semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship from Pool ‘C’.

The first match between Bengal and Assam witnessed Bengal leading with 1-0 score till half time. Assam played a better game in the first half but lost control in the second half and gave away 2 more goals and lost the match by 3-0 to Bengal. Continue reading →
