13 June 2013: Defending Champions Punjab defeated Odisha 2-1 to defend their Junior National Hockey Champions title, while Madhya Pradesh finished 3rd by defeating Maharashtra in the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2013 which concluded today at Motil Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat (Haryana).
Punjab scored their opening goal through their skipper Gaganpreet Singh who converted the penalty corner in the 10th minute while Odisha leveled the score in the 24th minute with the field goal scored by Joseph Toppo.
In the second half, both the teams fought hard but finally Punjab’s Skipper Gaganpreet Singh managed to convert a penalty stroke in the 63rd minute to win the final which was graced by the Chief Minister of Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda as chief guest. Continue reading →
12 June 2013: Defending Champions Punjab will take on Odisha in the final of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2013 to be played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat on Thursday, 13 June.
Parvinder Singh and Gaganpreet Singh scored twice for defending Champions Punjab to register a 6-2 win over Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy in the first semi-final, while Odisha defeated The Hockey Maharashtra 2-1 in second semi-final played today. 11 June 2013: Defending champions Punjab, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, The Hockey Maharashtra and Odisha entered the semi-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship being played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat (Haryana).
In the semi-finals to be played on Wednesday in afternoon, Punjab will take on Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy while Odisha will clash with The Hockey Maharashtra.
Defending champion Punjab defeated Sports Authority of India 3-1 in the first quarter-final match.
Punjab scored their opening goal through Simranjeet Singh in the 10th minute while an own goal in the 34th minute helped Sports Authority of India to level the score. 10 June 2013: The Hockey Maharashtra, Odisha and Himachal Pradesh completed the quarter-finals line-up of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2013 being played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat (Haryana).
The hosts Haryana, along with Punjab, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy and Sports Authority of India are the other teams who have already qualified for the quarter-finals.
In Pool B, Odisha defeated Tamil Nadu 7-1 in their concluding league match. Odisha scored through Dipsan Tirkey (6 min), Jpseph Toppo (6 min), Joseph Toppo (24 min), Sunil Ekka (33 min), Saroj Barla (45 min), Felix Baa (60 min) and Teophil Kujur (64, 70 min) while M Dhilleepan (3 min) scored for Tamil Nadu. Chandigarh scored through Kanwaldeep Singh (12 min), Sahepreet Singh (17, 44, 46, 52, 53, 69 min), Gursewak Singh (21 min), Harpreet Singh (23, 28 min), Gagandeep Singh (24 min), Sukhjeet Singh (34 min), Amrit Pal Singh (35 min), Baljot Singh (43 min), Own Goal (54 min) and Narinder Pal Singh (58, 67 min).

8 June 2013: Delhi entered the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat on Saturday.
Delhi registered a second consecutive win in Pool-D, as they defeated Andhra Pradesh 4-1. After conceding an early goal in the first half, Delhi came from behind and scored four goals in the other half. Turning point came in the match when Jugraj Singh scored the opening goal for Delhi in the 36th minute after which Delhi scored another three goals.
