Hilton out of Azlan Shah Tournament with appendicitis

Black Stick Blair Hilton has been ruled out of the Azlan Shah Tournament after being taken to a private hospital in Malaysia for appendicitis last night (NZ time). Hilton has had surgery and is now recovering in hospital.

The Black Sticks Men have been in Malaysia for a week training and playing practice games in preparation for the tournament. They play their first game against India at 10.05pm (NZT) tonight.

With Hilton now ruled out of the Azlan Shah, the opportunity has been given to Northland’s Shay Neal, who has been booked on a 1.15pm flight departing from Auckland. Neal will miss tonight’s opening game, but will be with the team for the rest of the tournament.
