Services on Winning Spree in Jr Men Nationals (B-Division)

26 March 2014: Services Sports Promotion Board continued their winning spree as they won 3rd consecutive match while many other teams registered their 1st wins on day-3 of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium Egmore and YMCA Stadium in Chennai.

In a Pool C match, Services Sports Control Board showered a total of 10 goals from the very 5th minute of the game till the 67th minute as Goa stood tranquilized and witnessed the destruction. The opening goal for the Services Sports Control Board came from Jitender in the 5th minute of the game itself. The destruction was channeled further with Navpreet Singh scoring three goals in the 7th, 17th and 67th minute followed by another three through Ramandeep in the 21st, 37th and 59th minute of the game. Wins for Services and Punjab at Sr Nationals in Lucknow

18 March 2014 : In Pool A, Services defeated Chandigarh by 2-0 in the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow, while Punjab pumped 11 goals against Manipur to record 11-1 victory in Pool B.

Until the four crucial minutes in the second half of the game where Services Sports Control Board’s Md. Faheem Khan and Ved Prakhash Bhatt scored a goal each in the 47th and the 50th minute and led their team to a glorious 2-0 win, the match saw a sizzling struggle by both the teams to penetrate a goal and take the control of the match. Repeated attempts by both Services Sports Control Board and Chandigarh Olympic Association did no good to favour either of the competitors. Chandigarh, Services and CAG won in Lucknow Nationals (A-Division)

14 March 2014: On the opening day for Pool A and Pool B matches of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow, Chandigarh Olympic Association, Services Sports Control Board and Comptroller & Auditor General of India, all registered their maiden win in their respective matches.

Chandigarh Olympic Association played an excellent match against Andhra Pradesh and defeated them with 4-2 in Pool A. Chandigarh Olympic Association was on a full throttle in the first half of the match as they dominated with a 2-0 lead till half time. Chandigarh’s Tarandeep Singh started off with the goal scoring spree for the team in the 9th minute of the game, followed by Navdeep Singh’s two goals in the 20th and 39th minute and Lakhwinder singh in the 51st minute. Pool D opens up as Tamil Nadu beat FCI in Sr Hockey Nationals (A-Division)

13 March 2014: Tamil Nadu registered their first win in the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow, as they defeated Food Corporation of India 4-3 to open up the competition in Pool D.

Also, after suffering a 5-2 loss in their first game against Uttar Pradesh, Hockey Odisha registered their first win by defeating Karnataka by 3-1 on board. Continue reading →

Karnataka complete the Quarter-Final Line-up of Pune Hockey Nationals 2013

7 June 2013: Karnataka reached the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship with a 4-2 win over Services Sports Control Board in their concluding league match of Pool C, the Nationals are underway in Pune.

3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2013Air India will face Indian Railways, Haryana will lock horns with neighbours Chandigarh in two quarter-finals which will be played on 8th June at Major Dhyan Chand Polygrass Hockey Stadium, Pimpri in Pune. Pune Hockey Nationals 2013 Day 10: Defending Champions Punjab, Manipur and Jharkhand in Quarters

6 June 2013: Defending champions Punjab along with Manipur and Jharkhand has entered the Quarter-Finals of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2013 being played in Pune. Chandigarh, Railways, Haryana and Air India are the other teams who have already qualified for the Quarter-finals.

Riding on form of former Indian captain Deepak Thakur, who scored 5 goals, Punjab defeated Delhi 9-2 in their last league match of Pool A to emerge pool toppers.

In addition to 5 goals of Deepak for unbeatable Punjab, Vikramjit Singh scored thrice while Davinder Pal Singh found the target once. Pawan Singh Chauhan and Avtar Singh Mann scored a goal each for Delhi to reduce the margin to 9-2.

In Pool C, Karnataka registered their third consecutive win, as they defeated Bihar 8-1. Karnataka scored through S K Uthappa (11 min), Nikkin Thimmaiah (22 min), S K Chingappa (29, 31 min), M K Muddappa (39 min), Vickram Kant (43 min), B S Bidappa (51 min) and M G Poonacha (52 min) while Bihar’s only reply came from Satnam Singh (56 min).
