Captain Sardar and Coach van Ass looking for boost with new game plan

The Indian Men Hockey team is practicing for the Fintro FIH Hockey World League Semi-Finals and is gearing up for the upcoming challenge. Placed in the Pool A of the tournament the team will be seen clashing against Australia, Pakistan, France and Poland and will be aiming the Top 2 position in the Pool phase.

The team is looking forward to their matches against both Australia and Pakistan wherein with the former the Indian boys have proved to be dominant team in the recent clashes and with the latter the team will be looking at settling scores.

Speaking on the tournament and the challenges, Captain Sardar Singh said “The team is shaping out well in the last few practice sessions. Our new game plan of 10 attacking and 10 defending gives the extra boost to the mid-field position, as this will help in countering the counter attacks from the opponents. Ranchi Rays in finals, after 9-8 win on sudden death over UP Wizards

The first Semi Final of the Hero Hockey India League 2015 saw intense competition between Uttar Pradesh Wizards and Ranchi Rays as they fought hard for a place in Final to be played tomorrow. At the end of regulation time of 60 minute (4 quarters of 15 minutes each) the scores were tied 1-1 resulting in a penalty shootout, which MS Dhoni’s team won.

The spectators and viewers on TV across the world, witnessed spectacular hockey as both the teams ensured that they did not give the other the chance to walk away with the game. The shoot-out was neck-neck until 2 rounds and in the third round Ranchi Rays’ outwitted the Wizards to come out winners on sudden death and became the first Finalist of the League 2015. Indian Women’s team ready to face hosts Korea in Asian Games 2014

Indian Women Hockey Team is ready to take on the hosts South Korea in the semi-final of the 17th Asian Games 2014 to be played on 29th September 2014 at Soenhak Hockey Stadium in Incheon, while China will play Japan in other semi-final match.

RHWC2014: Hockeyroos face hosts Netherlands in the Women’s Final

The Hockeyroos are through to Saturday’s Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014 final after a thrilling semi-final with the USA finished with Australia taking victory, 3-1 in the shoot-out after a 2-2 draw. They will meet the hosts, the Netherlands, in the final after the Olympic champions beat the defending World Cup winners Argentina 4-0 in the second semi-final.

Clinical Argentina Beat England to Set Up Final against Germany in World League at Johor

London Olympics Gold Medalists Germany overcame valiant Korean side to win 2nd semi final of Hockey World League being played at Johor Bahru (Malaysia) to set up final against Argentina, who defeated England in 1st semi final.

Earlier in the day, Japan beat South Africa in shoot-out, while Malaysia defeated Pakistan 3-1 to set-up fifth place match to strengthen their chances for world cup qualification.

In 2nd semi final, Korea went down to Germany with a fierce flick of Christopher Zeller in 14th minute, but put up a strong fight to equalize in 60th minute through Nam Yong Lee. Germany restored their lead on another PC. Korean goalie Myung Ho Lee saved initial attempt of Zeller; but rebound was sent by Linus Butt. Germany completed their tally with Florian Fuchs and Martin Zwicker combining in Korean D with Zwicker putting it on target in the last move of the game.

The sun shone at Chiswick for the most anticipated match of the week at the Investec Hockey World League as England took on Argentina in the second semi final of the day. The home side was in sensational form as they put four goals past the Olympic silver medallists, who could only offer two back in reply. Hannah Macleod, Susie Townsend and Nicola White were all on target to book England into the final against Australia tomorrow evening. The victory was made even sweeter as the home side’s top two finish guarantees them a place in the 2014 World Cup next summer. In other Semi Final Australia defeated China 4-1 to reach the final.
