Odisha boys & MPHA girls emerge Champions of Sub-Junior Nationals

Rohtak, November 7: Odisha boys defeated Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 5-1 in the final of 2nd Hockey India Sub-Junior Boys & Girls National Championship here on Wednesday, while MPHA girls defeated hosts Haryana 3-1 to clinch the title.

Hockey India LogoPunjab boys and Jharkhand girls defeated SAI Bhopal (2-1) and Mizoram (4-3) to finish at third position in their respective categories.

Odisha boys took 4-0 lead in the first half scoring through Anand Lakra (8th minute), Peophill Kujur (10th minute), Nilam Sanjeer (16th minute) and Ashok Lakra (34th minute).

In the second half MPHA reduced the margin scoring field goal through Ravi in the 47th minute but Odisha scored another goal in the 62nd minute through Anand Lakra. Continue reading →

Odisha and MPHA boys enters semi-finals of Sub-Junior Boys & Girls Hockey Nationals

Rohtak, November 4: Both boys and girls team of Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy (MPHA) and Odisha boys entered the semi-finals of 2nd Hockey India Sub-Junior Boys & Girls National Championship at Rohtak on Sunday.

Hockey India LogoPunjab and SAI Bhopal are the two other teams who have already qualified for semi-finals in boys category, while Jharkhand, Haryana and Mizoram girls have already reached the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals to be played on Tuesday November 6, MPHA boys take on Punjab, while girls will face Jharkhand. In other semi-finals Odisha boys take on SAI Bhopal while hosts Haryana girls will face Mizoram. Continue reading →

Hosts Haryana becomes first team to enter quarterfinals of Junior Women’s Hockey Nationals

SONEPAT, Oct 2Navneet Kaur scored nine goals as host Haryana raced to 23-0 win against Goa in its concluding Pool E league game and became the first team to enter the quarterfinals of 2nd Hockey India Junior Women National Championship at Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai, today.

Navneet Kaur who scored six goals against Maharashtra in Haryana’s first match played an important role in team’s victory. Karishma & Manjeet perform hat-tricks in Chandigarh big victory

SONEPAT, Oct 1: Manjeet Rawal and Karishma Singh scored eight goals each as Chandigarh raced to a 23-0 win against Assam in its opening Pool C league game in the 2nd Hockey India Junior Women National Championship at the Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai today. Karishma Singh secured a double-hat-trick while Manjeet Rawal notched up a hat-trick herself.

In a Pool A game, Mizoram beat Andhra Pradesh 2-1. Lalhlunmawii scored for Mizoram in the 35th and 63rd minute after Avani Nattha had put Andhra Pradesh ahead in the 13th minute. Continue reading →

Punjab won 2nd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship, Haryana finished 3rd

LUCKNOW, Sept 9: Punjab staged a remarkable second half rally to defeat Odisa 4-3 to win the 2nd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium here on Sunday. Odisha, who led 3-1 at the break, had to be content with the runners-up slot for the second year running.
