The India Junior Men Team was announced today for the Volvo International U-21 Men Tournament 2015. The tournament will be played in the Netherlands from 18th July to 25th July 2015 in Breda.

Six teams will compete against each other in a Round-Robin format in the tournament. The Junior Hockey team of India will face the hosts Netherlands, Germany, England, Belgium and New Zealand will play for the top honors.
The Volvo International Tournament 2015 will provide a testing platform to the U-21 Men team, who are even gearing-up from the upcoming Men’s Junior Asian Cup 2015 in Malaysia and the FIH Junior World Cup 2016 (Men) 2016. Continue reading →
Goalkeeper Andrew Butturini was one of the stars for Australia’s Under 21 men, the Burras, as they claimed fifth place at the Hero Hockey Junior World Cup 2013 in New Delhi.

The Burras came from behind twice to take the European Junior Champions, Belgium, to a shoot-out before winning 3-2. The Queensland stopper thwarted his Belgian opponents on three occasions in the shoot-out, culminating in holding up Dimitri Cuvelier to run out the attacker’s eight second shot clock and secure victory.
National Junior Coach Paul Gaudoin said afterwards, “We started slowly, sluggishly, and our first half was not good. We lacked the energy and sharpness we needed but we turned it around in the second half. At half time we spoke about a few of the things we needed to do and we came out with the energy we needed – we were all over them in the second half.” Continue reading →
New Delhi, 13 December 2013: In the first match of the day at the Hero Hockey Junior World Cup 2013, European Champions Belgium defeated Korea 6-1 in 5th-8th classification contest after missing out on semi-final places.

Match started at a half-hearted pace. Belgium had some chances, including on an early penalty-corner, but play was marred by unforced errors and passes going astray. Belgium bobbled another penalty-corner, Korea wasted a three-on-two counter-attack, Alexandre Vanlinthoudt with time and space at the top of the circle blasted a shot wide and high in the stands. France stunned European Champions Belgium in a 9 goal thrilling quarter-final match at the Hero Hockey Junior World Cup 2013 in New Delhi. Earlier in morning, Netherlands defeated New Zealand 3-2 in other quarter-final.

France, who had only lost to Belgium on an overtime golden goal in semi-finals of the Junior European Cup, came 2-4 down at one stage to clinch the match by 5-4 and will now face the winner of Malaysia vs Korea in the semi-final to be played tomorrow (13th December).
Happy with the win France Coach, Gael Foulard said “it’s a very happy moment for the boys as this is the first time that we have reached the semi-finals. The entire team played as a team and played an amazing game of hockey. It’s the belief that we have in ourselves as a team, which has proved to be our biggest strength in this tournament. It was a very close game again and we did not have revenge in our minds today when we started playing, rather we have a cordial relationship with them.
