Jalandhar November 1, 2014: Former Champion Rail Coach Factory (RCF Kapurthala) started their the 31st Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament campaign on winning note and earned full points in their first match in league stage, here at local Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Burlton Park.

In the today match, young and spirited RCF defaeted Indian Overseas Bank by 4-0. In the first league fixtures, the Rail Coach Factory displayed controlled hockey in the first half. They took lead in the 25th minute of the play when RCF’s Sandeeep Singh netted the ball from the pass of Captain Gaganpreet Singh (1-0). Jalandhar October 9, 2013: Young Side of Punjab State Power Corp Ltd Patiala beat Corps of Signals Jalandhar by 4-3 in the first match of the 30th Servo Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today, while Indian Navy Mumbai beat Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala by 5-4 via Penalty Shootout to enter in the next round.
PSPCL will face Indian Navy at 5:30PM on 10th October to the one spot in quarter-final stage of the tournament, where a total of 12 teams in 4 pools will play for 4 semi final spots.

Earlier K D Bhandari Chief Parliamentry Secretary Punjab inaugurated the tournament and also announced grant of Rs 5 lakh for the Tournament committee.

In Pool B Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala and Bharat Petroleum Mumbai displayed good controlled hockey. In the 15th minute Railmen took lead when Palwinder Singh found the target from right flank (1-0). Bharat Petroleum equalized in 24th minute , through penalty corner conversion by Gurpreet Singh (1-1).

Two minutes later, Railmen’s Palwinder Singh netted the ball from top of the circle (2-1) to restore the lead for his team. Just before the lemon break, Hari Prasad scored on a penalty corner to restore parity (2-2).
After the lemon break both teams relied on counter attacks. In the 49th minute of play RCF boys earned the penalty corner, this time Karanpal’s hard push found the target to lead (3-2) third time in the game. In the 66th minute, Bharat Petroleum’s Gurpreet Singh equalized through Penalty corner conversion (3-3).
