Jalandhar November 7, 2014: Star Studded Rail Coach Factory (RCF Kapurthala) clinched the title in women section of 31st Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here by beating Haryana XI via penalty shoot-out by 3-2.

The winners bagged Rs One Lakh and glittering trophy where as Runners-up got richer by Rs 51 thousand and trophy from the Chief Guest of the match Olympian Pargat Singh (MLA Jalandhar Cantt). Jalandhar November 6, 2014: Haryana-XI will take on RCF Kapurthala in Women Finals of the 31st Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament, while in Men’s Semi finals defending champions Punjab & Sind Bank will face Army XI and Punjab XI (Pakistan) will lock horns with Indian Oil Mumbai on 8 November at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium.

Today Haryana XI beat Rest of Pakistan by 5-0 to jump ahead of Punjab XI on the basis of better goal average and booked a place women’s finals against RCF Kapurthala will be played on 7th November at 5-00 PM. Punjab-XI and Haryana-XI earned 4 points each from three outings each.
Though in the Pakistani girls lost this match by 5-0, but today their exhibited good hockey, well coordination but for their poor finishing, they failed to score. In the Men sections, Indain Oil defeated Indian Overseas Bank by 4-1 and Army XI defeated Bharat Petroleum 3-2 to entered semi finals of the tournament from their respective pools.
In the men section of the tournament, last year’s rumnners up Indian Oil, Mumbai defeated indian Overseas Bank by 4-1. The bankers took the lead in the 5th minute of the game when they earned their first penalty corner. Their penalty corner expert D Matthuselvan did not make any mistake to find the target. In men section league match in Pool C Star studded Punjab Xi (Pakistan) displayed controlled and fast hockey in their first encounter against Punjab National Bank. Jalandhar November 3, 2014: Indian Oil Mumbai beat Rail Coach Factory (RCF Kapurthala) by 5-3 and Punjab Police beat Bharat Petroleum by 4-2 to earn full points in men’s section of the 31st Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today. In Women’s section RCF Kapurthala registered second consecutive victory by beating Haryana XI by 6-3.

In men section first match in Pool A last year’s runners-up Indian Oil beat RCF Kapurtahala. In the 10th minute of the match Olympian Parabhjot Singh netted the ball from left flank (1-0). In the 15th minute Vikas Sharma scored the goal from the top of the circle to make it 2-0 for Indian Oil. In 20th minute RCF’s Simrandeep Singh converted the penalty corner to reduce the margin. In Women section’s first match Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala beat Punjab XI (India) by 5-1 to get three points. In men sections Army XI beat Punjab Police by 4-1, Punjab National Bank edged past ONGC by 1-0 and Holders Punjab & Sind Bank defeated Namdhari XI by 4-2.
In men section Pool B match Army XI grounded Punjab Police by 4-1. Army took lead in 12th minute when their Siraju AP converted the penalty corner (1-0). In 19th minute Punjab Police scored equalizer with the field goal by Jagmeet Singh (1-1). In 29th minute of the play Army once again took lead with penalty corner conversion by Siraju AP (2-1).
