The two teams, India and the Netherlands, have not played with each other lately but the Indian Women Hockey Team is looking forward to carve their plan and emerge victorious against the FIH Ranked # 1 Netherlands this time around.
While, the Dutch team is placed on the top of Pool A and had won all their league matches in the tournament, the Indian eves lost three matches against Belgium, New Zealand and Australia in Pool B and registered only one win against Poland. Following the completion of the pool phase at the women’s FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final 2015 in Antwerp, the line-up for the cross-over quarter-final matches has been confirmed. The top three finishers in the event will not only seal a place at the end of year Hockey World League Final in Argentina but also qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Maartje Paumen scored a hat-trick against Italy as the Netherlands finished top of Pool A, with Oranje now facing a quarter-final match-up against India, Pool B’s fourth placed team. Bangalore, Sept 29: Hosts Karnataka and Jharkhand completed the quarter-final line-up with emphatic victories in the concluding league matches of Hockey India’s 2nd Senior National hockey championship, here on Saturday.
Unbeaten Karnataka topped pool B with a 5-1 win over Andhra Pradesh who could not sustain the initial spirit while Jharkhand, with Ajitesh Roy scoring four goals, outplayed debutants Sashastra Seema Bal 9-1 for an all-win record in pool D.
The quarter-final line-up is: holders Haryana vs Manipur; Punjab vs Indian Railways; Karnataka vs Tamil Nadu; Jharkhand vs Air India. All the four matches will be played on Sunday. Continue reading →

LUCKNOW, September 7: Punjab set up a high-voltage semifinal clash with defending champions Haryana in the 2ndJunior National Men Hockey Championship at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in the Guru Gobind Singh College here tomorrow. Last year’s finalist Odisha will battle it out with SAI Bhopal in the other semifinal.
In the quarterfinals today, Punjab beat MP Hockey Academy (Bhopal) 7-1 and Haryana defeated Himachal Pradesh 4-1. Odisha had to put their best foot forward to secure a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Karnataka.
