BPCL and IOC Register Wins in Surjit Hockey Tournament 2013

Jalandhar Oct 13 : Riding on Gurpreet Singh’s Hat-trick Bharat Petroleum defeated Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd while Indian Oil defeated Punjab Police in the 30th IndianOil Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Burlton Park here.

In the first match of the day, runners-up of last edition BPCL defeated PSPCL by 6-1 in Pool ‘D’ match whereas defending champions IndianOil beat Punjab Police by 3-1 in Pool ‘A’, in the mean while, Punjab XI, Pakstani Women hockey team arrived in Jalandhar today, who will play their Indian counterpart Punjab XI (India) in a three test match series on 14, 15 and 17 October during the tournament. IAF & PSB Start Surjit Hockey Tournament on Winning Note

Jalandhar October 11, 2013: Indian Air Force Delhi and Punjab & Sind Bank Delhi started their 30th Surjit Hockey Tournament on winning note.

IAF and PSB earned three points each by defeating their Punjab Police Jalandhar by 4-2 and Punjab State Power Corp Patiala by 7-1 respectively in quarter final league matches of the tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today. Continue reading →

PSPCL beat Indian Navy to Qualify for Next Round of Surjit Hockey

Jalandhar October 10, 2013:  Punjab State Power Corp. Ltd Patiala edged past Indian Navy Mumbai in a nail biting match by 5-4 to enter the Quarter Final League stage of the 30th Servo Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympion Surjit Hockey Stadium here today.

PSPCL and Indian Navy played good hockey and replied each other’s goals as the team from Patiala sneaked past the Navy with the strike from Sukhjit Singh with couple of minutes from final hooter.

In the 11th minute of the match, Amit Goswami opened the account for Indian Navy (1-0). In the very next minute Punjab State Power Corp Ltd equalized with field goal scored by Rupinder Singh (1-1). Continue reading →
