In the final match played between Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy and Hockey Jharkhand, the opening goal of the match came from MPHA’s Preeti Dubey as early as in the 2nd minute of the game. Two quick goals collaborated by Pratibha Arya and Preeti Dubey in the 17th and 22nd minute respectively indicated the game to be in favour of MPHA . Air India got off the mark quickly and rushed ahead with 2 quick goals from Sameer Dad (2nd minute) and Affan Yousuf (3rd minute). Sameer finished after receiving the ball from Joga Singh, while Affan (eventually adjudged Man of the Championship) found the target with reverse flick. 8 May 2013: Air India, Haryana, Punjab and Karnataka entered the semi-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2013.
In the semi-finals to be played on Sunday 9 June 2013, last year’s runners-up Air India take on Haryana while Defending Champion Punjab will clash with Karnataka.
Last year’s runners-up Air India scored a hard-fought 5-4 win against Railways to win the first quarter-final match played at Major Dhyan Chand Polygrass Hockey Stadium, Pimpri in Pune today. 7 June 2013: Karnataka reached the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship with a 4-2 win over Services Sports Control Board in their concluding league match of Pool C, the Nationals are underway in Pune.
Air India will face Indian Railways, Haryana will lock horns with neighbours Chandigarh in two quarter-finals which will be played on 8th June at Major Dhyan Chand Polygrass Hockey Stadium, Pimpri in Pune.
