India scored a convincing victory against world number 4 Great Britain by 3-1, Rupinder Pal Singh scored a Hat-trick for India, while they lost their campaign opening match against athletic South Korea 2-3 after having a lead of 2-0. The neighbors Pakistan have won their both the matches are on the top of the table. Australia are at third position after India by winning their first match against hosts Malaysia, are followed by Great Britain and South Korea who have registered one win from their two matches. While black sticks New Zealand and the hosts Malaysia have to register a win to earn points and move up in the table from bottom two positions.

Its Malaysia Vs India and Korea Vs Pakistan in Asiad Semis

India defeated Japan 3-2 to top the points table of group B in Asian Games 2010. Ever reliable captain Rajpal Singh leveled the scored in 31st minute after Japad had taken lead through a field goal by Hiroki Sakamoto in 21st minute. Then Sandeep Singh converted both penalty corners (38th and 62nd minute) which India had earned in the match. However, Japan pulled one back through another field goal from Sakamoto. India finished victorious with the score reading 3-2.

With four wins out of as many matches, India finished on top of Group B with 12 points, while Pakistan finished second with 9 points. While rising hockey nation, Malaysia beat formidable China (4-2), held hockey giant Korea (2-2) on their way to semi final against India which will be played on 23rd November at 2:30 PM (IST). While Pakistan will take on the topper of Group A Korea in another semi-final on same day at 12:30 PM (IST).

India’s chances in Asian Games Hockey: Points table till now

Indian men’s team has won their both the matches against lowly Hong Kong China (7-0) and Bangladesh (9-0) while their female counter parts won their first game against Malaysia (4-0) and lost next two against Japan (0-3) and Korea (0-1). Indian women’s team is virtually out of the contest of Gold medal, but still are in race for Bronze. India need to win two games to be in top four in the league round and they can easily come over Thailand (19th Nov) and Kazakhstan (20th Nov), before facing to hosts and favorites China on 22nd Nov. While men’s team need to win their two matches against Pakistan (20th Nov) and Japan (21st Nov) to top the pool and have easy semi finals, as Korea (defending champions) are expected to top other pool which only strong team in Pool A.
