Aiming at improving the standards of hockey in the country, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced new selection committee, team managements for senior and junior teams and made certain other appointments. These appointments were approved unanimously at the 27th meeting of the PHF Executive Board, which also aims bringing a sustainable change from the grassroots to the national levels.
Former Olympian Islahuddin Siddiqui has been name as the chief selector and he will be assisted by former Olympians Ayaz Mehmood, Khalid Bashir, Musaddiq and Arshad Ali Ch. While Shahnaz Sheikh has been appointed as the chief coach/manager of the Senior Hockey team while Nasir Ali, Malik Shafqat, Sameer Hussain and Abuzar Umrao will assist him as members. Their term will remain till 2016. Another former Olympian Manzoor-ul-Hassan has been made chief coach and manager of the Junior team with Qamar Ibrahim, Kamran Ashraf, Muhammad Akhlaq, Rehan Butt and Mohammed Irfan as members. Their job will remain till the Junior World Cup to be held in 2016. New Delhi, 21 November 2013: Hockey India today announced that complimentary tickets of the forthcoming Hero Hockey Junior World Cup Men 2013 will be issued to former hockey Olympians and international players to witness the matches.
Hero Hockey Junior World Cup Men 2013 will be held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi from 6-15 December 2013 (Schedule here).

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – May 15, 2013 – 2012 Olympian Claire Laubach (Centreville, Va.), who shares a story of perseverance and hard work that is nothing short of inspiring, is closing the chapter of an incredible field hockey career that includes three NCAA Division I National Championship titles and a Pan American gold medal. After eight years and 167 international competitions with the U.S. Women’s National Team, Laubach made the bittersweet decision to, in her own words, “pass the torch.”
As Laubach reflected on her career and time spent on the U.S. National Team, one of the most notable memories was the Pan American gold medal victory over the No. 1 world ranked team Argentina back in October 2011. Team India takes off : The Indian Hockey team is ready to board the plane for France to play two matches, and then travel to Spain for a 3 Nation Tournament, before reaching the Olympics Village in London. After booking their ticket to London by defeating France (8-1) in the Hero FIH Road to London (Men), Delhi 2012 in February, the team has been preparing hard for the Olympics. The tour of France and Spain will be the last outing of the team in the run up to the Games.

During the tour, India will play two test matches against France in Lille on 28 and 30 June 2012. The team will then travel to play two test matches each against Spain and South Africa from 5- 11th of July 2012 at Santander, Spain, before taking part in a 3 Nation Invitational Hockey Tournament at the same venue (Detailed Schedule of the tour can be found here).
