Punjab Retain Jr Men Nationals Title, Haryana finished 3rd

6 April 2014: Punjab outclassed Odisha by 6-2 in the finals of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) to retain their Junior National Champions title, Haryana defeated SAI 7-3 to finish 3rd.

Odisha face Defending Champions Punjab in Final

5 April 2014: Odisha will face the Defending Champions Punjab in the final of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) after winning their respective semi finals at Chennai.

In the first semi-final match between Haryana and Punjab, the Defending Champions beat their neighbours by 6-2 and Hockey Odisha defeated Sports Authority of India by 6-0 in a one-sided match in the second semi-final.

For the finale tomorrow while Punjab is all set to retain its title, Hockey Odisha is eyeing to settle scores with Punjab, as last year too both teams had met in the finals where Hockey Odisha lost to Punjab 2-1. Odisha and SAI in Semis of Jr Men Nationals (A-Division)

3 April 2014: Odisha and SAI confirmed their places in the semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) being played in Chennai. Haryana and Punjab are already in the semi-finals to be played this Saturday.

Haryana will take on Punjab on Saturday in the first semi-final match and Sports Authority of India will clash against Odisha in the second semi-final match. It is yet to be seen who will keep their nerves and take the bus to the finale.

In Pool B match, Hockey Odisha continues its winning form and in its 3rd match of Pool B, the team beats Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd convincing to enter the next stage of the tournament. Punjab and Haryana in the Semis of Jr Men Nationals (A-Division)

2 April 2014: Punjab and Haryana have qualified for the semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) being played in Chennai. Haryana and Punjab will face each other in 1st semi-final on Saturday.

In a Pool C match, both Haryana and Jharkhand held their fort for a long time as they played a self-protective game and did not let each other go for the kill, until Haryana’s Karmbir managed to sneak in a field goal, as late as in the 42nd minute of the game. Shortly, Karmbir was supported by team-mate Nikhil Saroha in the 45th minute which gave Haryana a 2-0 lead over Jharkhand. With just a minute in hand before the final buzzer went off, Jharkhand’s Amit Bhengra sliced in a field goal which only helped the team in reducing the goal difference to 2-1. Jr Men Nationals (A-Division) in interesting stage at Chennai

April 1, 2014: After the fourth day of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) being played in Chennai, four semi-finalists are yet to be known. Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are in race for a place in final four from Pool C, while it would be either Tamil Nadu or Punjab from Pool A.

The hosts Tamil Nadu will play their last league match against Punjab in Pool A, which will be decider for semi finals place, as Chandigarh failed to show up. Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, both having four points from two outings in Pool C, will also play their last league matches against Jharkhand and MPHA respectively for a place in knock out stage. From Pool B, Odisha is likely to qualify for semis but Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh also have a chance depending on various permutation and combinations, while SAI and Hockey Bhopal will fight out on Thursday for the semi finals spot from Pool D. March 31, 2014: Steel Plant Sports Board defeated Manipur to clinch the title of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) played in Chennai, while Services Sports Control Board finished 3rd.
