It is not the first time that the Anantapur Sports Village (ASV) has hosted a national camp for athletes representing Andhra Pradesh. As a result, Rural Development Trust’s (RDT) Anantapur Sports Academy (ASA) program continues to grow from strength to strength as an institution in itself. Simultaneously it continues to fortify a changing belief that rural India can become a hub for sporting development. With a relatively poor and desert like district of Anantapur emerging as a front runner of this changing belief and the hard work of RDT to make it a recognizable and formidable sporting destination of India standing out as an easily noticeable fact behind this.
Hockey Andhra Pradesh senior women’s team before they left for Bangalore
This time around, amidst exams and the closure of the academic year, the ASV hosted a national level Hockey camp. This camp housed 36 young women, the finest athletes that Andhra Pradesh has to offer to the game. Hockey Madhya Pradesh defeated Hockey Patiala 4-0 to clinch the title of the 5th Senior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) ‘’B’’ Division at Saifai today. In the Bronze Medal match, Hockey Bihar edged past Association of Indian Universities by 3-2 to finish at 3rd position in the tournament.

Hockey Madhya Pradesh convincingly beat Hockey Patiala 4-0 and lifted the title of the 5th Senior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) ‘’B’’ Division today. Hockey Madhya Pradesh produced a clinical performance throughout the match and left no scope for Hockey Patiala to score. Hockey Madhya Pradesh drew their first blood through Jyoti Pal who then sneaked in three goals in the 23rd, 26th and 29th minute, the first one coming from a penalty corner and the other two field goals. The hosts and dates for Hockey India National Championship 2013 has been announced for both men and women in the various age categories of senior, junior and sub-junior. Players born after 1 January 1994 and 1 January 1997 will be eligible for Junior and Sub-Junior Nationals respectively.

Hockey India provides a financial grant to support the hosts of National Championships in various categories. Hockey India has announced a total grant of Rs. 1.01 Crores for 2013 editions.
The Senior and Junior National Championships in Men’s category will be played at Pune (Maharashtra) and Rohtak (Haryana) respectively and they will get a grant of Rs. 20 Lakhs and Rs. 17 Lakhs respectively. The Junior and Senior Women’s National Championships will be hosted by Ranchi (Jharkhand) and Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) respectively, with the aid of Rs. 15 Lakhs and Rs. 18 Lakhs from Hockey India. Hockey India Senior (Men’s) Hockey Championship – 2012 will be played in Bangalore from 23rd September to 2nd October 2012, while Junior’s Championship will start on 1st September in Lucknow.
27 teams from across the country will participate in 2nd Hockey India Junior (Men’s) Hockey Championship, including defending champions Haryana, runners-up Odisha and third-place holders Punjab. The 9 day event will start on September 1, at the Major Dhyan Chand Astro Turf Stadium at the Guru Govind Singh Sports College in Lucknow.
A total of 36 teams, with a new entrant Border Security Forces, will participate in 2nd Hockey India Senior (Men’s) Hockey Championship, which will be played at Bangalore Hockey Stadium (Aka Shanti Nagar Hockey Stadium) and MEG Astro Turf. Continue reading →
