Debutants Gangpur Won the B-Division of Sr Nationals

13 March 2014: Hockey Gangpur-Odisha pipped Hockey Maharashtra by 3-2 in a nail-biting final match of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow, while Mumbai defeated Namdhari XI 3-1 to finish third.

Both Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Hockey Maharashtra went all out from the very beginning of the match which led to a 2-2 score on board by the end of the first half. This close fight saw attacks and counter-attacks. The first goal of the match was scored by Gangpur-Odisha’s William Xalxo in the very first minute of the game to which Hockey Maharashtra’s Captain Vishal Pillay replied with a goal in the 3rdminute. 8 March 2014: Teams of Pool A saw the clash of Rajasthan and Gujarat where the former won the match by 3-2 and with this win Rajasthan earned their first 3 points at Division B of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow today.

Bihar, Uttarakhand, Sashastra Seema Bal and Himachal Pradesh from Pool A and B started their 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) campaign on winning note at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

The first match played between Bihar and Gujarat witnessed Bihar going all out from the very start. Though, Gujarat’s Krushsingh Zala scored the very first goal of the game at the 9th minute, it was Bihar’s Md Reyazuddin, Naveen Minz and Mangra Bhengra who in return scored at the 11th, 14th and 21st minute respectively, to take the lead by 3-1 in the first half of the match. Gujarat played a defensive game in the second half of the game but couldn’t stop Bihar’s Naveen Minz from scoring another goal at 40th minute and wrapping the game at 4 goals to 1. Senior Men’s Hockey National Championship 2013 to Start in Pune from 28 May

New Delhi, 27 May 2013: The 3rd edition of the Hockey India Senior Men National Championship will be played at Pune, Maharashtra from 28 May-10 June 2013.

In 2013 edition of the championship, as many as 38 teams will be participating in the championship which will be played on a league cum knockout basis on the Major Dhyan Chand Polygrass Hockey Stadium Pimpri and Shiv Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex in Pune.

This year four new teams including Comptroller and Auditor General, Sports Authority of India, Mumbai Hockey Association Limited and Namdhari XI will participate apart from 34 teams which participated in last edition. Continue reading →

IOCL Won KSHA Ozonegroup National Hockey League Championship 2012-13

IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Limited) emerged as the champions of KSHA Ozonegroup National Hockey League Championship 2012-13 played at the KSHA Hockey Stadium, Bangatore from 1st to 20th April 2013.
