Hockey India League today announced that the Mumbai franchise has been taken up by DoIT Sports Management (India) Pvt. Ltd., a creative sports entity championing “Rurban” Indian sporting ventures, making it the sixth franchise that will compete in the prestigious international event, held every year in January – February.
In the first two seasons, Dabur group owned Mumbai franchise, who pulled out of the league. Winners of first edition Ranchi Rhinos also pulled out of the league, while a new franchise owned Deccan Water Treatment Pvt. Ltd. has been added. The new franchise will be based in Pune. Continue reading →
They might have struggled for most part of the tournament but Dabur Mumbai Magicians drew curtains to their campaign in the second Hero Hockey India League in style, defeating Uttar Pradesh Wizards 3-2 to register their second consecutive win this year at the Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

It was Dabur Mumbai Magicians second victory in the tournament this year after having defeated debutants Kalinga Lancers 3-2 in their previous match and thus pipped Kalinga Lancers to avoid wooden spoon in the tournament.
UP Wizards drew the first blood in the 22nd minute through lanky striker Nithin Thimmaiah who scored a field goal.

It took Dabur Mumbai Magicians nine games to register their first victory in the league, while for Kalinga Lancers it was a disappointing end to their maiden campaign in the six-team tournament.

Table toppers Delhi Waveriders rounded off their league campaign at the second edition of Hero Hockey India League (HHIL) in style, beating Dabur Mumbai Magicians 5-3 in a high-scoring match at the Mahindra Hockey Stadium in Mumbai.

Delhi Waveriders started the match as favourites and took the lead in the third minute through Yuvraj Walmiki, who got a deflection from Akashdeep Singh’s rebound shot.
Dabur Mumbai Magicians, however, drew level seven minutes later when Glenn Turner (10th minute) scored a field goal before Delhi Waveriders restored their lead in the next minute through veteran Rajpal Singh’s 11th minute) field strike.
