Team looks stronger in counter attacks: Ahrens Coach Indian Women Hockey

With the team all set to leave for the Fintro FIH Hockey World League Semi-Finals, the Indian Women team Chief Coach, Mathias Ahrens was seen speaking on the upcoming tournament and how is the team gearing up for the same.

Speaking on the preparation, Chief Coach Mathias Ahrens said “We are in the final phase of preparation for the World League Semi-Finals and it is quiet a mixed feeling at the moment. We are focusing on fine tuning penalty corners, long corners and set pieces. The team is spending more time on speed which will help work on covering the distance. The team today is strong on their counter attacks and our attack in the D is improving drastically. We are now focusing on things to come together and if we deliver then we are on track. Defence is the Strength: Mathias Ahrens, Chief Coach Indian Women Hockey Team

With the Hockey World League Semi Final to be held in Antwerp, Belgium from June 20 to July 5, the Indian Women hockey team is training hard under the new Chief Coach Mathias Ahrens.

Ranked 13th in the world, Indian eves will face world best teams in the Antwerp leg of Hockey World League (HWL) Semi Final which will be first assignment of Mathias Ahrens as chief coach of Indian Women Hockey team. India are placed in a tough Pool B along with Australia, New Zealand, hosts Belgium (12) and Poland (23) while Pool A consists of Netherlands, Korea, Japan, Italy and Azerbaijan.
