March 30, 2014: Steel Plant Sports Board and Manipur will face each other in the Finals of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) in Chennai. Steel Plant Sports Board defeated Services Sports Control Board 3-2 in the first semi final, while Manipur edged past Bengal by 3-2 in shoot-out after finishing at 2-2 in stipulated time.
In the super exiting match both the teams, Steel Plant Sports Board and Services Sports Control Board, showcased their strengths and defended very well in the first half. Naveen Minz scored the first goal for the Services Sports Control Board in the 22nd minute of the game and took the lead of 1-0 for the team. Soon in the 27th minute Janma Majhi of Steel Plant Sports Board levelled the score though a field goal. Both the teams gave tough fight to each other and scored 1 goal each till the half time. 27 March 2014: On the day-4 of the 4th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at M R Stadium Egmore and YMCA Stadium in Chennai, Services Sports Promotion Board, Steel Plant Sports Board and Manipur booked their places in semi-finals to be played this weekend.

13 March 2014: Chhattisgarh outclassed Kerala by 6-1 in the finals of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship (B-Division) to emerge champions at the Astro-turf of Chamundi Vihar grounds in Mysore, while Hockey Gangpur-Odisha finished 3rd with a 2-0 victory against Manipur.

13 March 2014: Tamil Nadu registered their first win in the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division A) being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow, as they defeated Food Corporation of India 4-3 to open up the competition in Pool D.

12 March 2014: Chhattisgarh and Kerala stormed into the finals of 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at the Chamundi Vihar Hockey Ground.

In the first semi finals, Chhattisgarh defeated Manipur by 4 -0. Chhattisgarh’s Ishika Chaudhary scored the 1st goal for the team in the 8th minute of the game backed by Priyanka Parihar in the 34th minute by converting a penalty corner opportunity. By the end of the 1st half of the game Chhattisgarh took the lead over Manipur by 2 -0.
In the second half of the game Akanksha Parmar and Sadhna Sengar scored 1 field goal each in the 38th and 65th minute respectively to complete the final scoreline. Continue reading →
