MPHA won Sub-Junior Women Hockey Nationals (A Division) at Pune

New Delhi, 27th May 2014: Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy defeated Jharkhand 5-2 in the finals of the 4th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Hockey Championship (Division A) held at Pune, Maharashtra today. While Chandigarh defeated Haryana 3-1 to finish win the Bronze Medal.

In the final match played between Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy and Hockey Jharkhand, the opening goal of the match came from MPHA’s Preeti Dubey as early as in the 2nd minute of the game. Two quick goals collaborated by Pratibha Arya and Preeti Dubey in the 17th and 22nd minute respectively indicated the game to be in favour of MPHA . Debutants Gangpur Won the B-Division of Sr Nationals

13 March 2014: Hockey Gangpur-Odisha pipped Hockey Maharashtra by 3-2 in a nail-biting final match of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow, while Mumbai defeated Namdhari XI 3-1 to finish third.

Both Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Hockey Maharashtra went all out from the very beginning of the match which led to a 2-2 score on board by the end of the first half. This close fight saw attacks and counter-attacks. The first goal of the match was scored by Gangpur-Odisha’s William Xalxo in the very first minute of the game to which Hockey Maharashtra’s Captain Vishal Pillay replied with a goal in the 3rdminute. 12 March 2014: Hockey Ganpur-Odisha and Hockey Maharashtra defeated Namdhari XI and Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd respectively to set summit clash of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

The Final and Bronze medal matches will be played tomorrow at 1400 and 1600 hours respectively at the same venue.

In a tough competition, both Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Namdhari XI played strategically to restrict each other from scoring any goals and tried not committing any errors themselves. In Semis of Sr Nationals (B Division): Namdhari XI vs Gangpur and Mumbai vs Maharashtra

10 March 2014: Namdhari XI and Mumbai emerged as the pool winners of Pool A and Pool B respectively, thus setting up semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) against Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Maharashtra.

Maharashtra in Semi Finals of B Div-Sr Hockey Nationals

Maharashtra played out a tough 3-3 draw against Delhi at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow on day-7 of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) to secure themselves a place in semi finals.

Hockey India LogoPost the match both Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh are placed with 11 points each on the table in Pool D. But Maharashta piped Chhattisgarh in points table on the basis of goal difference to qualify for the semi-finals. While Hockey Gangpur – Odisha, having 15 points in their kitty, have entered the semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship from Pool ‘C’.

The first match between Bengal and Assam witnessed Bengal leading with 1-0 score till half time. Assam played a better game in the first half but lost control in the second half and gave away 2 more goals and lost the match by 3-0 to Bengal. Continue reading →

Gangpur March into Semis of B Division of Sr Nationals

Hockey Gangpur-Odisha registered 5th consecutive victory in as many matches to seal their place in semi-final of the B Division of 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship being played in Lucknow.

Chhattisgarh defeated Kerala in a thriller to reach the top of Pool D, but their place in semi final will be dependent on the result of the match between Maharashtra and Delhi to be played tomorrow. Chhattisgarh will be in semis if Maharashtra fails to score a victory, otherwise Maharashtra will be through to final four.

In the first match of the day the audience witnessed Chhattisgarh Hockey defeating Kerala in a thrilling match. At half time when the scores were 2-0 with Hockey Kerala leading the scoreboard nobody could have expected Chhattisgarh to make a strong comeback and going on to win the match 3 goals to 2.
