India won Silver and Hearts in London, FIH Clarifies decision #HCT2016

In a dramatic end to a successful tournament, India won silver medal and hearts of hockey fans throughout. India lost in the shootout to Australia after ending the game 0-0 at regulation time in their maiden appearance in the final of Hockey Champions Trophy 2016 in London. Earlier in the day, Germany edged past Great Britain to win the bronze medal thanks to a solitary strike from tournament top scorer Marco Miltkau.

India entered the tournament as underdogs and using tournament for preparations of Rio Olympics and started on high note with holding Olympic Germany for 3-3 draw and defeated hosts Great Britain by 2-1 for first time in last 4 decade at their home soil. India had heart break when they lost to Belgium by 2-1 and then came back in tournament with win against Korea by 2-1 and commendable performance against Australia in their last pool game (2-4). India beat Japan by 4-0 to stay unbeaten in 4 match #INDvJAP series at Bhubaneswar

The hosts India continued to improve throughout the series and finished the campaign with yet another win over visitors Japan in Bhubaneswar. After being held for 1-1 draw in first match, India won rest of the three matches to win the series by 3-0. As India won the 2nd match by 2-0 and 3rd by 2-1, they scored 9 goals in 4 matches and conceded only 2 in the 4 match series was live telecast by DD Sports.

With the series already in their name, India played to add another win to their name while Japan looked at ending the series with one win in their name. India beat Japan by 2-1 in 3rd Match of 4 Test Series at Bhubaneswar

After leading the four-match Test Series by 1-0, India edged past Japan by 2-1 in the third match and won the series by 2-0. Penalty corner specialist VR Raghunath converted another corner with an ease whereas Akashdeep Singh displayed a brilliant stick-work when he scored the second goal for his team. After a tough fight Japan’s Hirotaka Wakari scored the lone goal for his team.

India had won the 2nd match of the series by 2-0, after being held for 1-1 draw by japan in first match. Debutant Harmanpreet Singh and other youngsters in the team such as Lalit Upadhyay, Pardeep Mor, looked in good form and confident on the field.
