Chhattisgarh face Kerala in Final of Jr Women Nationals (B-Division)

12 March 2014: Chhattisgarh and Kerala stormed into the finals of 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at the Chamundi Vihar Hockey Ground.

In the first semi finals, Chhattisgarh defeated Manipur by 4 -0. Chhattisgarh’s Ishika Chaudhary scored the 1st goal for the team in the 8th minute of the game backed by Priyanka Parihar in the 34th minute by converting a penalty corner opportunity.  By the end of the 1st half of the game Chhattisgarh took the lead over Manipur by 2 -0.

In the second half of the game Akanksha Parmar and Sadhna Sengar scored 1 field goal each in the 38th and 65th minute respectively to complete the final scoreline. Continue reading →

It’s Gangpur vs Kerala and Manipur vs Chhattisgarh in Semis Jr Women Hockey Nationals

On the sixth day of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014, Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Kerala confirmed their places in semi-finals of the B-Division of the tournament being played at the Astro-turf of Chamundi Vihar grounds Mysore.

Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Assam will face each other in semi-finals to be played on Wednesday (12th March), while winners of Pool A and C, Manipur and Chhattisgarh take on each other for the places in final of 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B).

Hockey Gangpur-Odisha defeated Assam by 8-1. In the match, Rinki Kujur Rajita Kujur and Janhabi Pradhan scored two goals each. Though there was sense of resistance from the Hockey Assam defenders but it was not enough to stop the Gangpur team. Gangpur, Assam & Kerala won on Day 5 at Jr Women Hockey Nationals (B-Division) at Mysore

7 March 2014: Hockey Gangpur-Odisha, Assam and Kerala won their respective matches on the Day-5 of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Mysore.

In the first half of the match between Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Jammu & Kashmir, the former took the lead over Jammu & Kashmir by 7-0 with the help of Namrata Jasmin Bara (1st minute), Mosmita Lugun (8th, 26th and 32nd minute), Janhabi Pradhan’s (28th and 31st minute) and Rinki Kujur (29th minute). In the second half of the game, Rinki Kujur (40th minute) and Janhabi Pradhan (47th and 58th minute) contributed three goals for Hockey Gangpur-Odisha. Assam, Gangpur and Gujarat win at Jr Women Nationals in Mysore

8 March 2014: Maxima Xalcxo and Phulwari Kandulana scored thrice for Assam which helped their team to register 7-0 win against Jammu and Kashmir in their first league match of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B) held at the Astro-turf of Chamundi Vihar grounds in Mysore today.

In a group B match, Maxima Xalxo provided initial lead to her team in the 4th minute by scoring a field goal. Forward Phulwari Kandulana moving the ball from the right end of the court went on to score the second goal in the 21st minute. The defenders of Jammu and Kashmir tried hard to resist the front line players entering into the danger zone. However, in the second half of the game, Assam players successfully invaded the zone and pounded five goals and registered their win in the tournament. Continue reading →

Manipur and Chhattisgarh in Semis of Jr Women’s Nationals B-Division

07 March 2014: Manipur and Chhattisgarh have confirmed their places in the semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Chamundi Vihar Hockey Ground in Mysore today.

In their last league match of Pool A, Manipur registered their third win in a row defeating Vidarbha Hockey Association 6-0.

Manipur took a decent 2-0 lead in the first half of the game when Sonia Devi scored at the 17th minute and Captain Gitarani Devi scoring at the 22nd minute. The second half of the game saw, Manipur girls going all out and closing the game with a 6-0 victory over Vidarbha Hockey Association, where Bidyarani Devi scored two goals at 39th and 47th minute and Sonia Devi took her total of goals to three by scoring two more goals at 49th and 60th minute. Gangpur March into Semis of B Division of Sr Nationals

Hockey Gangpur-Odisha registered 5th consecutive victory in as many matches to seal their place in semi-final of the B Division of 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship being played in Lucknow.

Chhattisgarh defeated Kerala in a thriller to reach the top of Pool D, but their place in semi final will be dependent on the result of the match between Maharashtra and Delhi to be played tomorrow. Chhattisgarh will be in semis if Maharashtra fails to score a victory, otherwise Maharashtra will be through to final four.

In the first match of the day the audience witnessed Chhattisgarh Hockey defeating Kerala in a thrilling match. At half time when the scores were 2-0 with Hockey Kerala leading the scoreboard nobody could have expected Chhattisgarh to make a strong comeback and going on to win the match 3 goals to 2.
