New Delhi, 10 December 2013: In a very exciting game of Hockey, riding high on YOU Seungju’s hat-trick on penalty corner, Korea came from behind to hold hosts India for 3-3 draw to qualify quarter-finals of Hero Hockey Junior World Cup 2013 in New Delhi.
Earlier in the day Belgium and Germany confirmed their places in quarter-finals and Netherlands beat Canada 7-0 to top the Pool C. Korea will now face Malaysia and Netherlands will take on New Zealand in quarter-finals on 12th Dec at 15:30 and 11:00 IST. While India are up against Argentina in 8th-16th place classification match.
In the crucial and last match of pool stage, between hosts India and Korea, the former absolutely needed to win to qualify for the quarter-finals, when a loss or even a draw would push Korea through. Continue reading →
New Delhi, 10 December 2013: Netherlands raced to the top of Pool C at Hero Hockey Junior World Cup 2013 with a clinical 7-0 victory over Canada in their last group stage. The dutch boys will now face junior Black Sticks on 12th Dec at 11:00 AM in the quarter-final match (Full Schedule here).
With the confirmation a place in top eight teams of the tournament, Netherlands were playing to consolidate their position at the top of Pool C and immediately showed that they meant business, calling Canadian goalkeeper Kevin Pereira into action and hitting the post in the first minute of play! New Delhi, 10 December 2013: Germany outclassed Egypt by 6-0 and Belgium came from behind to hold Pakistan for 2-2 draw to book themselves a place in quarter-finals of Hero Hockey Junior World Cup 2013 in New Delhi.
Belgium and Germany, 1st and 2nd team in Pool A will face France and Australia from Pool B in the quarter-finals to be played on 12 December at 17:45 and 13:15 respectively (Full Schedule here).
With final standings still very much in the air before this last game in the pool between Belgium and Pakistan, pace of play was immediately intense. Pakistan seemed in a better frame of mind than in their initial matches and pushed Belgium back on their heels in the initial fifteen minutes of the match. They could however not really threaten Arnaud Flamand in the Belgian goal and play became balanced, with teams neutralizing each other in midfield. Continue reading →
New Delhi, 9 December 2013: Kane Russell’s well executed drag-flick in second half was enough to see New Zealand through to quarter-finals of Hero Hockey Junior World Cup 2013, as they defeated South Africa by 1-0 in a must win match.
Now New Zealand joined Malaysia from Pool D in the knock out stage of the tournament (schedule here). Earlier in the evening Malaysia defeated England 4-2 to win the Pool D with 9 points from 3 matches (Points table here).

New Delhi, 9 December 2013: Malaysia defeated England 4-2 to record their 3rd straight win from as many matches in Pool D of Hero Hockey Junior World Cup 2013 in New Delhi, which means Malaysia, who were already assured of quarter-finals will head into knock stage as pool winner, while England will miss out the place in final eight of the tournament.
England were in a must win situation (then hope that South Africa would not win the following match against New Zealand). In the later match, Black Sticks edged South Africa by 1-0 to qualify for quarter-finals.
