New Delhi, 14 December 2013: The African and Pan American Champions, South Africa and Argentina, were certainly expecting more from the Hero Hockey Junior World Cup 2013, than playing for 11th position.

Argentina, who have been doing well at the junior level in past and one of the favorites before the starting this edition of Junior World Cup, defeated South Africa 4-1 in the 11th place classification match of the quadrennial tournament being played in New Delhi.
South Africa were faster off the starting blocks and up by one goal within three minutes of play by Matthew Brown on penalty-corner. Argentina recovered from their shaky start and were back on par in the 13th minute thanks to a powerful low drag-flick by Gonzalo Peillat that slid off the stick of the post-defender. New Delhi, 14 December 2013: Spain defeated England 3-2 to finish at 13th place in the Hero Hockey Junior World Cup 2013 in New Delhi. Earlier in the day, Egypt beat Canada 3-0 for 15th place.

New Delhi, 14 December 2013: Canada and Egypt, the two lowest ranked teams entering the competition could not pull upset, though they gave some tough fights during the tournaments and ended up playing each other for avoiding the wooden of the Hero Hockey Junior World Cup 2013 in New Delhi.

Play started slowly in the midday heat, then Canada took a slight edge on the proceedings; but at the end of game Egypt were the worthy winners with score board reading 3-0 in favor of them.
Egypt Coach, Ali Alielshorbagy will take the tournament learning back home to work on game and come back as a better team in future, and said, “Post the disappointing performance by the team in this tournament we did not want to finish at the bottom of the table hence winning today’s match was essential. While we did not enter the tournament for the 15th position but we will take this as learning and work on our game and come back as a better team. The boys played well today and I am happy with the efforts that the team put in. New Delhi, 13 December 2013: It was thrilling 2nd semi final at the Hero Hockey Junior World Cup 2013 when two giants of the game, finalists of last edition Germany and Netherlands, were head-on for a place in the grand finale to be played on Sunday.

This match-up was the final of the last Junior World Cup, when Germany narrowly prevailed over the Netherlands, but the Dutch finished one step higher than the Germans at the last Junior European Cup. The defending champions Germany will now face France, who defeated Malaysia in shoot-out in other Semi-Final, in the final at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium on 15th December.
The chess game began from the opening whistle. Germany patiently worked their way up-field and earned a penalty-corner in their first incursion in the Dutch circle, scored by Lukas Windfeder with a high drag flick. The Burras, Australian under-21 men’s team, defeated Junior Black Sticks by 2-1 to set themselves up against Belgium, who defeated Korea by 6-1 in 1st 5th-8th classification match, for fifth place match, as Korea and New Zealand will fight it out for 7th place on Sunday. (Schedule here)

Match started at a half-hearted pace. Belgium had some chances, including on an early penalty-corner, but play was marred by unforced errors and passes going astray. Belgium bobbled another penalty-corner, Korea wasted a three-on-two counter-attack, Alexandre Vanlinthoudt with time and space at the top of the circle blasted a shot wide and high in the stands.
