New Delhi, 23 May 2013: Haryana and Jharkhand women entered the semi-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Sub-Junior Men & Women National Championship (Final) 2013 played at SAI Centre, Bhopal on Thursday.

Haryana registered their third consecutive win, as they defeated Jharkhand 5-1 in their Pool B match. New Delhi, 22 May 2013: Four goals by skipper Navpreet helped Haryana women to register their second consecutive win as they defeated The Hockey Maharashtra 11-1 in the Pool B match on day 2 of the 3rd Hockey India Sub-Junior Men & Women National Championship (Final) 2013 played at SAI Centre, Bhopal on Wednesday.

Day 1 at Sub-Junior Hockey National Championship (Final) 2013: Defending Champions MPHA Win their Opening Game

New Delhi, 21 May 2013: Defending Champions Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy women defeated Chandigarh 2-1 in their opening match of Pool A of the 3rd Hockey India Sub-Junior Men & Women National Championship (Final) 2013 on day 1 at Aish Bagh Hockey Stadium in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.

Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy scored their opening goal through Neelu in the 3rd minute. Preeti Dubey scored another goal for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy in the 19th minute while Saroj scored the only goal for Chandigarh in the 17th minute. Continue reading →

Sub-Junior Men & Women Hockey National Championship (Finals) 2013 to start in Bhopal on 21 May

New Delhi, 20 May 2013: The 3rd edition of the Hockey India Sub-Junior Men & Women National Championship (Finals) 2013 will be played at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh from 21-27 May 2013.

Hockey India LogoA total of 28 teams in the men’s and 25 in the women’s category have participated in the 3rd Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championship which was conducted zonal wise in the month of April. The winners and runners-up of each of the four zones have qualified for the final round.

There will be eight teams playing in each of the men’s and women’s category, and the teams are divided into two pools and the matches will be played at Aish Bagh Hockey Stadium and Mayur Park Hockey Stadium in Bhopal. Continue reading →

Karnataka Won their Maiden Title of Senior Men’s Hockey Nationals to Lift Rangaswamy Cup

The 64th edition of the Senior Men’s National Hockey Championship for Rangaswamy Cup concluded today at the KSHA Hockey Stadium, Bangalore, with hosts Karnataka lifting the cup for the first time in the history of the tournament, while defending champions Mumbai finished third.

In the third place match, Mumbai matched Punjab and snatched the third place in penalty shoot-out on sudden death, after having equal scores of 2-2 (after full-time), 4-4 in penalty shoot-outs, while in sudden death shoot-out, Mumbai Goalkeeper Sudhir Dixit saved as he faced Balwinder Singh and their Captain Victo Singh scored to finish third. It’s Karnataka Vs Uttar Pradesh in the Final of 64th Senior Men’s Hockey Nationals

On the last day of league stage, Uttar Pradesh defeated Manipur 19-2 to set up summit clash against hosts Karnataka, as with today’s win, UP moved to 2nd place in points’ table above Mumbai on the basis of goal difference, while Punjab beat Jharkhand 6-0 to score their 3rd win of the tournament and will play Mumbai in the Bronze Medal Match at 16:00 on 16th May, 2013 at KSHA Hockey Stadium, Bangalore.

64th Senior Men's National Hockey Championship at KSHA Hockey Stadium BangaloreHosts Karnataka will face Uttar Pradesh in the final match to be played under artificial lights at 18:00 tomorrow (16th May, 2013). Both Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh will be looking for their first ever Rangaswamy Cup victory. Uttar Pradesh last appeared in the final of Rangaswamy Cup in 1960 at Kolkata, where they lost to services to finish 2nd, while Karnataka (then Mysore) had played in the final in the year of 1968 at Udhagamandalam, where they lost to Indian Railways.
