SONEPAT, Oct 4: Delhi entered the quarterfinals of 2nd Hockey India Junior Women National Championship with a 3-1 victory over Rajasthan via a penalty shootout in a nerve-wracking Pool H league game in the Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai today.
Delhi goalkeeper Swaleha became the star with two saves to lead Delhi as the fifth team in the quarterfinals after the match ended in a 2-2 draw after the regulation time and 15-minute extra time. Delhi scored its opening goal in the 16th minute through Lalita. Rajasthan leveled in the 59th minute with the penalty corner conversion by skipper Sonam. Delhi took the lead again in the 65th minute via a penalty stroke by Lalita but three minutes later Sonam scored equaliser for Rajasthan. Continue reading →
Bangalore, Sept 30: Air India scored a hard-fought 4-2 win against Jharkhand to enter the semi-finals of Hockey India’s second senior men’s National hockey championship here on Sunday.

In the semi-finals to be played on Monday, Air India take on hosts and last year’s finalists Karnataka who earlier beat Tamil Nadu 2-0 while defending champions Haryana will clash with Punjab.
Haryana overcame a gritty Manipur 4-2 while Punjab put in a good second-half performance to defeat Railway Sports Control Board 5-1 after conceding an early goal.
Air India, who led 1-0 at the break, looked far from impressive as they struggled to find any rhythm or flow in their game and they were indebted to goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh who brought off several fine saves. Continue reading →
Bangalore, Sept 29: Hosts Karnataka and Jharkhand completed the quarter-final line-up with emphatic victories in the concluding league matches of Hockey India’s 2nd Senior National hockey championship, here on Saturday.
Unbeaten Karnataka topped pool B with a 5-1 win over Andhra Pradesh who could not sustain the initial spirit while Jharkhand, with Ajitesh Roy scoring four goals, outplayed debutants Sashastra Seema Bal 9-1 for an all-win record in pool D.

Bangalore, Sept 28: Indian Railways and Manipur entered the quarter-finals of 2nd Hockey India Senior Men National Championship by winning hard-fought matches in their respective pools, here on Friday.
The Railways overcame talented Uttar Pradesh 3-1 to top pool F unbeaten while a youthful Manipur, coached by former India star Tikken Singh, overcame Association of Indian Universities 4-3 in Pool H to record their third win and advance to the quarter-finals.

Bangalore, Sept 27: Gurjinder Singh and Akashdeep Singh scored thrice each as Punjab raced to a 7-2 win against the Services in their concluding pool C league game and entered the quarter-finals of Hockey India’s Second Senior National Men’s Hockey Championship, here on Thursday.
Earlier in morning session, Manipur pulled off a fine 9-3 win against fancied Bihar in a Pool H to strengthen their chance for Knock-Out stage. Now, Manipur need a draw in their Next Match against Combined Universities, to be played tomorrow (28th Sept) at 2:30 PM. After today’s 14-0 win against Andaman & Nicobar and draw against Bihar, Combined need to win the match against Manipur to be in Quarters.
