Hockey Haryana girls outplayed Hockey Jharkhand by 6-1 to win the 5th Junior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) ‘’A’’ Division ended today Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh). Whereas, Hockey Punjab pulled down Hockey Odisha with huge margin 7-1 to win the Bronze Medal.

In the Finale clash between Hockey Haryana and Hockey Jharkhand, Hockey Haryana thrashed Hockey Jharkhand with 6-1 and clinched the title of 5th Junior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) ‘’A’’ Division. Hockey Haryana showcased confidence from the initial minutes of the game itself scoring their first early goal in the 2nd minute when Manjeet converted a beautiful penalty corner for the team. Very soon in the 9th minute another goal was added to the kitty of Hockey Haryana when Neha struck a field goal into the net. Hockey Jharkhand made continuous efforts to score their first goal, however in the 32nd minute it was yet again Hockey Haryana who bagged another field goal coming from the stick of Saroj. With an excellent performance Hockey Haryana was leading with 3-0 by the end of the first half. With high spirits, Hockey Haryana continued with their admirable team work and added another field goal to their scorecard when Jyoti Gupta in the 44th minute smashed a field goal in support of the team. It was in the 54th minute that Hockey Jharkhand managed to score when Pramila Soren converted a penalty corner for the team. With two more field goals in the 63rd and 65th minute scored by Devika Sen, Hockey Haryana clinched the title defeating Hockey Jharkhand with leading score 6-1. Continue reading →
Women’s Hockey team of Railway Sports Promotion Board won the 5th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2015 (Division A) at SAFAI (Uttar Pradesh ) to make it double title for their employer. Earlier last week, their men counterparts had won the 5th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2015 (Division A) at Pune.

Punjab defeated Haryana by 3-1 to win the women’s hockey gold at 35th National Games in Kerala, while Services outclassed Odisha by 8-2 to grab the men’s hockey gold medal at New Hockey Stadium, Kollam. Jharkhand eves finished third by defeating Odisha 2-0, while Haryana men edged past Jharkhand in nerve wrecking shoot-out by 7-6 to win men’s hockey bronze medal.

In two exhilarating semi final games of men’s hockey, Jharkhand took on SSCB in the first match whilst Odisha clashed with Haryana in the next, with a single intention to defeat their opponent and reach into the all-important finals before walking away with the title. While SSCB defeated Jharkhand by 5-1, Odisha and Haryana fought it out in the shoot out where Odisha scored in the sudden death to emerge victorious and book a berth in the finals.
In the women’s section, Haryana took on Jharkhand and Odisha women challenged the mighty Punjab, early morning today. Whilst Haryana and Jharkhand battled it out in the Shoot-Out phase with Haryana finally winning the game in the sudden death, Punjab recorded a comfortable triumph over Odisha as it blanked the latter 3-0. New Delhi, 27 October 2014: Olympian Maharaj Krishan Kaushik (MK Kaushik) has been appointed as the Manager, High Performance (Central Zone) by Hockey India.

Kaushik, who was the coach of the Indian Men Hockey team that won Gold medal at the recently concluded 17th Asian Games 2014 in Incheon, South Korea will be seen in a new role from 1 November 2014.
Kaushik as the Manager, High Performance will soon start monitoring all domestic activities in the central zone consisting of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
MK Kaushik was the member of the 1980 Olympics Gold Medal winning Indian Men Hockey team, had also coached both the Indian men and women teams. Under his coaching, India men team won their last major international tournament – the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok. In the same year, he received the prestigious Arjuna Award. In 2006, the Indian women team won Bronze medal in the Doha Asian Games under his coaching. Continue reading →

In the final match played between Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy and Hockey Jharkhand, the opening goal of the match came from MPHA’s Preeti Dubey as early as in the 2nd minute of the game. Two quick goals collaborated by Pratibha Arya and Preeti Dubey in the 17th and 22nd minute respectively indicated the game to be in favour of MPHA .
