After the 2nd day of the South United-JFHA Inter School Hockey Tournament, defending Champions St Josesh’s Indian High School are on the top of the table with 10 points from 4 matches, followed by Rashtriya Military School (7 points from 3 matches) on 2nd spot and RDT Inclusive High School, Anantapur on 3rd spot with 5 points from 3 matches.

With RDT and Military School having two matches on the 3rd and last day of league stage, any two teams of top 3 in table stand a chance to reach the finals and it might boil down to the last league match between St. Joseph’s Indian High School and Rashtriya Military school. Continue reading →

Day 1 of South United-JFHA Inter School Hockey Tournament

On the first day of the South United-JFHA Inter School Hockey Tournament, Rashtriya Military School and St Josesh’s High School earned 4 points from a win and a draw of two matches, while Sports School Kudige won the only match they played today. The runners-up of 1st edition of the tournament RDT Inclusive High School, Anantapur held defending champions SJIHS and another title contender Rashtriya Military school for draws.

The tournament was declared open by Fr V.M Gregory (Director St Mary’s Orphanage & Principal Maria Niketan High School) in a small but well organized opening ceremony, where Mr. Manuel Fredricks, Former Indian Goal Keeper & Munich Olympics Bronze Medalist, was the Guest of Honor.

Olympian Sabu Varkey and master Coach PA Raphael chose the “Man of the Match” for each match.

South United Joins Hand with JFHA for Inter School Hockey Tournament

Bangalore, 6th November 2012: South United is proud to announce its association with Jude Felix Hockey Academy’s Inter School Hockey Tournament, scheduled to be held from 7th Nov to 10th Nov 2012. Jude Felix Hockey Academy (JFHA) is organizing the tournament for the second year and is joining hands with SOUTH UNITED, which is committed to the development of sports among the youth.

Lokko Sports Pvt Ltd, the sports organization under which South United operates, is dedicated to the development of sports in India from grassroots to professional levels. They run charitable soccer schools in various cities, and have launched a professional soccer club – South United– in Bangalore, as a part of this endeavour. Keeping in line their strong urge to support grassroots in Olympic Sports, South United though being a football club would be happy to support any worthy initiative which encourages kids to participate in any Olympic sports. South United-JFHA Inter School Hockey Tournament Starts Today in Bengaluru

Jude Felix Hockey Academy (JFHA) is all set for the 2nd Edition of the JFHA Inter School Hockey Tournament beginning today at the Hockey Stadium (aka Shanthinagar Hockey Stadium) in Langford Town, Bengaluru.

Like Jude Felix (Olympian and former Captain of Indian Hockey Team) always says, “the Academy is for people who think differently and work towards making a difference”. JFHA found similar visionaries in South United – Lokko Sports. South United FC, a recently launched football club in Bangalore by Lokko Sports, joined hands to support the tournament as the title Sponsor of the tournament, “South United-JFHA Inter School Hockey Tournament”.

Curtain Raiser Event – 2nd JFHA Inter School Hockey Tournament – All set for Nov 7-10

Once again Jude Felix Hockey Academy (JFHA) proved their desire to do things differently, with  a spectacular curtain raiser event for the upcoming 2nd edition of JFHA Inter School Hockey tournament, which will be played from 7-10 November at KSHA Hockey Stadium aka Shantinagar Hockey Stadium under floodlights.

Jude Felix Hockey Academy is more than a Hockey Academy

The Jude Felix Hockey Academy (JFHA), Charitable Trust is traveling on a perfect path to achieve what they set themselves to do as inscribed in their mission.. “Develop hockey at the grass-root levels starting at schools, orphanages and homes, through the game enable children with important life-skills needed to successfully deal with challenges in life” Since its inception in 2009 the academy has trained around 200 children. The commitment of the coaches and volunteers is seen in the smiles of the little children as they assemble to practice Hockey every morning without fail.

Most of the children being currently trained live at St Mary’s orphanage and go to Maria Niketan School   and are being taught Hockey by coaches of international repute. Through Hockey life skills and discipline which would help them grow as individuals are being imparted. We were told by coach P. Shanmugham that there has been a significant positive change in the children, they respect and care for each other a lot more than they used to. The children are given assignments on and off the field and taught values such as leadership, team-spirit, sharing, caring and are constantly encouraged for what they do. Continue reading →
