Chandigarh won the Sub-Junior Men Hockey Nationals 2015 (B-Division) in Jammu

Chandigarh Olympic Association have won the 5th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Men) ‘B’ Division concluded today in Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir). The team from Chandigarh defeated Hockey Patiala by 6-4 in the final to win the title.

Hockey Madhya Pradesh secured the third position after a tough fight against Dadra & Nagar Haveli Hockey Association in the Bronze Medal match. The 3rd place was decided after a shoot-out at the astro-turf in Jammu, which was won by  Hockey Madhya Pradesh with a score board reading 5-3 (2-2). Continue reading →

Day 2 at the Senior Women Nationals at Bhopal

14 March 2014: On the 2nd day of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship (A-Division), Vidarbha Hockey Association rain 11 goals on team Goa in Pool A, while Himachal Pradesh crushed Jammu & Kashmir 12-0, Rajasthan beat Puducherry 6-0 and Assam edged past Bengal 1-0.

After Captain Roshni Kupale scored the first goal for her team, Vidarbha Hockey Association, in the 16th minute it was Sarika Malkhede who scored a hat-trick goal. While 2 goals came before the end of 1st half right after the start of 2nd half she scored her third goal for her team.

Post that it was Sarita Malkhede who went on to score a hat-trick goal which she delivered within 6 minutes and came in the 43rd, 47th and 48th minute. After that it was again Sarika Malkhede who added another 2 goals to tally in the 53rd and 62nd minute. This helped Vidarbha Hockey Association take an easy win over Goa. Continue reading →

It’s Gangpur vs Kerala and Manipur vs Chhattisgarh in Semis Jr Women Hockey Nationals

On the sixth day of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014, Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Kerala confirmed their places in semi-finals of the B-Division of the tournament being played at the Astro-turf of Chamundi Vihar grounds Mysore.

Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Assam will face each other in semi-finals to be played on Wednesday (12th March), while winners of Pool A and C, Manipur and Chhattisgarh take on each other for the places in final of 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B).

Hockey Gangpur-Odisha defeated Assam by 8-1. In the match, Rinki Kujur Rajita Kujur and Janhabi Pradhan scored two goals each. Though there was sense of resistance from the Hockey Assam defenders but it was not enough to stop the Gangpur team. Maxima Xalxo of Assam, who has scored goals in every game in the tournament scored the lone goal for her team in 46th minute. Continue reading →

In Semis of Sr Nationals (B Division): Namdhari XI vs Gangpur and Mumbai vs Maharashtra

10 March 2014: Namdhari XI and Mumbai emerged as the pool winners of Pool A and Pool B respectively, thus setting up semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) against Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Maharashtra.

Gangpur, Assam & Kerala won on Day 5 at Jr Women Hockey Nationals (B-Division) at Mysore

7 March 2014: Hockey Gangpur-Odisha, Assam and Kerala won their respective matches on the Day-5 of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Mysore.

In the first half of the match between Hockey Gangpur-Odisha and Jammu & Kashmir, the former took the lead over Jammu & Kashmir by 7-0 with the help of Namrata Jasmin Bara (1st minute), Mosmita Lugun (8th, 26th and 32nd minute), Janhabi Pradhan’s (28th and 31st minute) and Rinki Kujur (29th minute). In the second half of the game, Rinki Kujur (40th minute) and Janhabi Pradhan (47th and 58th minute) contributed three goals for Hockey Gangpur-Odisha. Namdhari and Mumbai on winning spree in Sr Nationals (B Division)

9 March 2014: Namdhari XI and Mumbai registered their third consecutive victories on the day 11 of the 4th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 (Division B) being played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow.

In a Pool A match between Namdhari XI and Bihar, Karandeep Singh Dhillon of Namdhari alone pocketed 4 goals for the team at 8th, 16th, 25th and 64th minute of the game followed by Baljot Singh’s two goals at 15th and 47th minute. Naveen Minz, Bhim Kumar and Mangra Bhengra of Bihar only managed to strike one goal each at 12th, 40th and 51st minute of the game.
