Finally, issue resolved! Govt recorgnises Hockey India

Finally, the decision has been taken and Hockey India has been recognised by Govt of India as National Sports Federation (NSF) for the sport of Hockey (Men’s and Women’s).

Hockey India LogoThe long pending issue of governing body of Hockey in India, which was affecting the sport in the country, is now settled. This decision of government is expected to have a positive impact on the promotion and development of National Sport of India i.e. Hockey.

According to a press release by Hockey India, it’s a moment of ecstasy for them today as they have finally been assigned the responsibility of promoting Hockey in India. Government of India through Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports recognized Hockey India as the sole body responsible towards promotion of sport in national and international arena. STAR India will be FIH’s Media Partner from Jan 2015 to Dec 2022

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) and STAR India, which runs India’s leading sports network STAR Sports, have signed an eight year strategic partnership to improve the production of international hockey broadcast and extend hockey’s reach worldwide. The ground-breaking deal will run from January 2015 to December 2022.

Germany Sweep FIH Awards for Men 2nd year in a row

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced that Germany’s Tobias Hauke and Christopher Rühr have been named as the men’s Player of the Year and Talent of the Year for 2013.

Hauke is the second successive Germany international to be crowned as the world’s best player, following in the footsteps of 2012 winner and fellow midfielder Moritz Fürste and with the dazzlingly gifted Christopher Rühr succeeds 2012 title holder Florian Fuchs to make it for 2nd year in a row for Germany to win both the awards.

Amazing Aymar lands eighth FIH Player of the Year crown, Rani among 5 Talents

Argentine superstar Luciana Aymar has been unveiled as the International Hockey Federation’s Player of the Year for 2013 at a special presentation ceremony at the Argentina Hockey World League Final in San Miguel de Tucuman. Maria Verschoor, the 19-year-old Dutch forward, has been named as the FIH Talent of the Year.

South Africa men & women become the final qualifiers for The Hague

Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014, the Hague (Netherlands) from 31st May to 15th June 2014Following the conclusion of the men’s and women’s Africa Cup for Nations continental championship in Nairobi, Kenya, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) is pleased to announce that the full line-up for next summer’s Rabobank Hockey World Cup in the Hague (NED) is now known.
