8th February 2015: The Netherlands have achieved a dazzling double success at the Indoor Hockey World Cup, with both the men’s and women’s national teams winning the Gold medals in front of a sell-out crowd at the Arena Leipzig in Germany.

The Dutch women took their title in dramatic style, defeating host nation Germany in a shoot-out in front of a passion-filled audience. A late goal from Claire Verhage cancelled out a lead that Germany held for the majority of a pulsating match, with Netherlands keeper Adinda Alberts making three saves in the shoot-out to give the Netherlands the title and break the hearts of the host nation in the process. An exciting National Indoor Trophy competition came to a conclusion at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght today with Railway Union & Ards claiming the honour of National Indoor Trophy Champions in the Men’s and Women’s competition respectively.
Ards retained the trophy they won last year with a 3-1 victory of Hermes in the Electric Ireland Women’s Final following a hard fought win over their local rivals Ulster Elks in the Semi-Final.
In the Men’s competition, Railway Union became National Indoor Trophy Champions for the fourth time in their history following a deserved 6-3 win over YMCA in the Final having qualified for the Final by beating NICS in the semi-final.
