RCF in Women Finals; IOCL & Army XI in men’s semi finals: Surjit Hockey

Jalandhar, November 5, 2014 : Star Studded Rail Coach Factory (RCF Kapurthala) reserved their berth in Finals of the 31st IndianOIl Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament, in women section being played at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Jalandhar.

In the Men sections, Indain Oil defeated Indian Overseas Bank by 4-1 and Army XI defeated Bharat Petroleum 3-2 to entered semi finals of the tournament from their respective pools.

In the men section of the tournament, last year’s rumnners up Indian Oil, Mumbai defeated indian Overseas Bank by 4-1. The bankers took the lead in the 5th minute of the game when they earned their first penalty corner. Their penalty corner expert D Matthuselvan did not make any mistake to find the target. Jalandhar, November 4 2014: Punjab XI (Pakistan) consisting of 6 Olympians and 7 International stars made flying start in the 31st Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today by beating Punjab National Bank by 4-1 to earn three full points.

In the other match in men section CAG Delhi and Namdhari XI Sirsa locked at 1-1 and earned one point each, while in Women Section With the help of hat-trick of Narinder Kaur, Punjab XI (India) beat Rest of Pakistan by 4-0 to earn three points in round robin league fixtures.

In men section league match in Pool C Star studded Punjab Xi (Pakistan) displayed controlled and fast hockey in their first encounter against Punjab National Bank. Jalandhar November 3, 2014: Indian Oil Mumbai beat Rail Coach Factory (RCF Kapurthala) by 5-3 and Punjab Police beat Bharat Petroleum by 4-2 to earn full points in men’s section of the 31st Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today. In Women’s section RCF Kapurthala registered second consecutive victory by beating Haryana XI by 6-3.

In men section first match in Pool A last year’s runners-up Indian Oil beat RCF Kapurtahala. In the 10th minute of the match Olympian Parabhjot Singh netted the ball from left flank (1-0). In the 15th minute Vikas Sharma scored the goal from the top of the circle to make it 2-0 for Indian Oil. In 20th minute RCF’s Simrandeep Singh converted the penalty corner to reduce the margin. In Women section’s first match Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala beat Punjab XI (India) by 5-1 to get three points. In men sections Army XI beat Punjab Police by 4-1, Punjab National Bank edged past ONGC by 1-0 and Holders Punjab & Sind Bank defeated Namdhari XI by 4-2.

In men section Pool B match Army XI grounded Punjab Police by 4-1. Army took lead in 12th minute when their Siraju AP converted the penalty corner (1-0). In 19th minute Punjab Police scored equalizer with the field goal by Jagmeet Singh (1-1). In 29th minute of the play Army once again took lead with penalty corner conversion by Siraju AP (2-1). IOCL and MPHA won inaugural Bangalore Hockey Cup

BANGALORE, October 17: Domestic circuit kings Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) emerged winners of inaugural men’s Bangalore Cup 2014 All-India hockey tournament, while Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy bagged the the women’s tournament.

Air India in final of Bangalore Cup as IOCL beat Army XI

BANGALORE, October 16: Indian Oil Corporation Ltd edged out Army XI 2-1 in the concluding league match of 1st Bangalore Cup 2014 All-India hockey tournament, here on Thursday to record their fourth consecutive win and making way for Air India into the finals.

Jaswinder Singh scored the opening goal for IOCL

Going into the match, Army XI, with four points in the kitty, needed to win to join league toppers IOCL in the title round. Thus, Army XI’s defeat saw Air India, with six points, scramble into the final that will be played on Friday at 6 pm.

With this win IOCL topped the league table with 12 points, Air India finished second with six, followed by Bharath Petroleum (4), Army XI (4) and Karnataka XI (3).

IOCL, their India stars who are currently attending a National camp, scored twice in the first half as Jaswinder Singh found the net after accepting a return pass from Deepak Thakur, and then Thimmanna helped home Gagandeep Singh’s goal-bound ball. Continue reading →
