Indian Oil Retained on MCC-Murugappa Cup Title

Defending champions Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) team retained the title of All India MCC Murugappa Hockey Tournament 2015 by defeating 3-2 Army XI in the final at Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, Egmore, Chennai.

118th Beighton Cup Hockey: Quarfer Final League from Nov 7

118th edition of the Beighton Cup Hockey Tournament, the oldest hockey tournament in world, is being played at Sports Authority of India, Kolkata since October 28th. The Quarter Final League stage of the tournament will start from tomorrow (7 November 2013).

Four teams including defending champions Indian Oil, Air India, Army XI and ONGC have been seeded directly into the Quarter Final league stage. The qualifying matches for Quarter Finals league were completed today.

Today, CAG defeated South Central Railway 4-2 to become the 4th qualifying team for the Quarter Final League stage, while Northern Railways defeated Young Society by 7-1. Yesterday, ERSA and Central Railways won their respective matches against Canara Bank (4-3) and CESC Sporting Club (4-3) respectively to qualify for QF League stage of the 2013 edition of Beighton Cup Hockey Tournament. Punjab & Sind Bank Won the 30th Surjit Hockey Tournament

Jalandhr, October 18: Backed by a vociferous crowd, Punjab & Sind Bank beat defending champions Indian Oil to win the 30th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament 2013 at the Burlton Park Stadium here late this evening.

In the final see-saw battle, the bank men outpaced and outsmarted Indian Oil by two goals to one (2-1) to lift the trophy besides pocketing Rs 5 lakh, a winner’s cheque. Sarvanjit Singh, the Captain of Punjab & Sind Bank, scored both the goals for his side, who was later adjudged as player of the tournament. Continue reading →

Defending Champions IOCL to face PSB in Surjit Hockey Finals

Jalandhar, October 17: The stage is set to win the ultimate honours in the 30th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament being played here. On the penultimate day of the competition, the two teams that reached the final are the defending champions Indian Oil and Punjab & Sind Bank, which will be live on PTC channel.

The final match will be played tomorrow (18th October) at 7:00PM after the performance by Diljit Dosanjh, where the winning team will be richer by Rs 5 lakh.

It will Punjab & Sind Bank’s 16th appearance in the finals of the Surjit Hockey Tournament. The bankers have won the title 6-times while ended up on 2nd place nine times. Three times champions of Surjit Hockey, IOCL will be playing their 7th final of this year. Continue reading →

It is IOC vs Army and PSB vs ONGC in Surjit Hockey Semis

Jalandhar 16 October 2013: The semifinal line up of the 30th Indian Oil Sarvo Surji Singh Hockey Tournament is known. The defending champions IOCL will face Army XI, while ONGC take on PSB in the semi-finals to be played tomorrow, which will be live on PTC channel.

On the last of day quarter-final league stage, Punjab & Sind Bank became the third team to qualify for semis while ONGC completed the semi-final line-up.

ONGC defeated BSF 3-0 to top the Pool-B. It was a bad day for BSF which conceded a self-goal to their rivals through Raj Singh in the 24th minute. ONGC leading 1-0 at half time, doubled the lead through Bikash Topo in the 49th minute. And Sarabjit Singh scored a field goal in the 61st minute to complete the tally of 3-0 for ONGC.
