Improve basics says legendary Dilip Tirkey

“We fail to analyse the games as perfectly as the other teams in the world do. Moreover we lack in basics and have to improve the technical shortcomings. We possess the skills but we are still slow and have to be quicker in tackling the opponents,” said legendary Dilip Tirkey (former Indian captain), who has played more than 400 international matches for India (perhaps second player in the world to do so).

According to Tirkey, ” We are able to match them on few occasions but lack the consistency. The percentage of the penalty corner conversion is still low and we lose the ball quite frequently which adds to the pressure.” Continue reading →

Baljit Singh … the best Indian Hockey Goalie ever…

Baljit Singh made his international debut as Goalkeeper at the Junior level in 2000 in a 4-nation tournament in Poland. During 1993 Under 15 pre Nehru Cup, he had to do goal keeping as his team’s frontline goal keeper was injured. Since then he has been enjoying his role as goalie and achieving mile stones one after another. Dadwal is a product of the SD College, Sector-32 Chandigarh. He is the only player who has played 3 finals out of four PHL (Premier Hockey League). He used to play for Chandigarh Dynmos in PHL. He is 2007 Asia Cup and 2009 Azlan Shah Cup Gold medalist.

He is a very good person from heart and good personalilty

In July 2009, he got a severe blow on his career because of a severe eye injury during a practice session. Hope, he come backs strongly like his team mate Sandeep Singh.

May God bless him. Get well soon. We wish to see you soon guarding Indian goal post 🙂

Get well soon 🙂

Indian Hockey Team Honored

Yes, Shivraj Ji did it once again for hockey….

Yesterday, Indian hockey team and all the staff members were invited to Bhopal at the CM House for their honour for their brilliant performance at the Azlan Shah Cup 2010…

During the function he also cleared everybody that he doesn’t need a place in HI (Hockey India) cause many were thinking like that. He said that he just want to see the hockey at the top and nothing else.

He also said to the team that they should just concentrate on the game and leave rest of the things to him as he is ready to give even a blank cheque to them….

One more special thing was about the coach Brasa…
He came just 5 mins before the starting of the function and aate hi unhone sabse pehle ashok kumar (former olympian and son of legendary dhyanchand)  ke pair chue [:o]…..was shocking for everyone present there…..

Well, hope shivraj ji continues to be same in future as well.:)
