India started Sultan of Johor Cup with win over Pakistan

It was a day for Indian Hockey. While the India Men Hockey Team won the New Zealand Tour, the India Men Junior team kick-started their outing in the 5th Sultan of Johor Cup with a win as they beat Pakistan with a convincing 5-1 score.

The Defending Champions commenced the 5th Sultan of Johor Cup with perfect style as they went on to beat arch rivals Pakistan by 5-1. Defending champions the Indian Men Junior Team departed yesterday night, 6th October, to participate in the 5th Sultan of Johor Cup, which is scheduled from 11th October to 18th October in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

After a month long preparation camp, the young colts are upbeat to face challenges in the tournament and will play hard to win the title for the third consecutive time. The Junior Team will be facing the challenge from Australia, Great Britain, Pakistan, Argentina and hosts Malaysia. Mid-fielder Harjeet Singh will lead the India Junior Men team in the upcoming 5th Sultan of Johor Cup to be played in Johor Bahru, Malaysia from 11th to 18th October 2015.

After a high-intense battle between India and Pakistan, the Match of the Tournament finished at a 2-2 draw in the Pool A league match of the FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final 2015 on 26th June.

Ramandeep Singh scored twice against Pakistan

Both the teams arrived on the green astro-turf with a passion and zeal to win the match as well as collect the points to solidify their positions in the Pool. Pakistan Captain Muhammad Imran scored two goals for his team sandwiched between the two goals of Indian forward Ramandeep Singh.
