Indian Hockey Captain Sardar Singh is Upbeat after Successful Netherlands Tour

Indian Men’s Hockey core probables are in Bangalore for the preparations of the Hockey World League 3 (Semi-Finals) to be played at Rotterdam in June.

The Indian team had a week’s in between their fairly successful tour of the Netherlands and ongoing camp in Bangalore. Indian side won two of their matches against club sides, while lost the other two and drew one. The men in blue concluded their tour with two victories against the hosts Netherlands. India defeated the Oranje by 2-0 and 4-2.

Karnataka Won their Maiden Title of Senior Men’s Hockey Nationals to Lift Rangaswamy Cup

The 64th edition of the Senior Men’s National Hockey Championship for Rangaswamy Cup concluded today at the KSHA Hockey Stadium, Bangalore, with hosts Karnataka lifting the cup for the first time in the history of the tournament, while defending champions Mumbai finished third.

Then Mysore, Karnataka had entered into the final in the year 1968 and became runners-up then has now created history by winning the 64th edition by beating Uttar Pradesh 3-1. In the third place match, Mumbai matched Punjab and snatched the third place in penalty shoot-out on sudden death, after having equal scores of 2-2 (after full-time), 4-4 in penalty shoot-outs, while in sudden death shoot-out, Mumbai Goalkeeper Sudhir Dixit saved as he faced Balwinder Singh and their Captain Victo Singh scored to finish third. It’s Karnataka Vs Uttar Pradesh in the Final of 64th Senior Men’s Hockey Nationals

On the last day of league stage, Uttar Pradesh defeated Manipur 19-2 to set up summit clash against hosts Karnataka, as with today’s win, UP moved to 2nd place in points’ table above Mumbai on the basis of goal difference, while Punjab beat Jharkhand 6-0 to score their 3rd win of the tournament and will play Mumbai in the Bronze Medal Match at 16:00 on 16th May, 2013 at KSHA Hockey Stadium, Bangalore.

64th Senior Men's National Hockey Championship at KSHA Hockey Stadium BangaloreHosts Karnataka will face Uttar Pradesh in the final match to be played under artificial lights at 18:00 tomorrow (16th May, 2013). Both Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh will be looking for their first ever Rangaswamy Cup victory. Uttar Pradesh last appeared in the final of Rangaswamy Cup in 1960 at Kolkata, where they lost to services to finish 2nd, while Karnataka (then Mysore) had played in the final in the year of 1968 at Udhagamandalam, where they lost to Indian Railways.

Indian Senior Men’s Hockey Core Probables to Train in Bangalore from May 16th for World League 3

New Delhi, 14 May 2013: In the preparations for the Rabobank World League Round 3 (Semi-Final) to be played at Rotterdam, Netherlands from 13-23 June 2013, the senior men core probables for Indian Hockey team will starting training at the Netaji Subhas Southern Centre (NSSC), Bangalore from 16 May 2013. The training camp will continue until 4 June 2013.

The Indian men’s hockey team recently concluded the preparatory tour to The Netherlands, where the visitors defeated the Dutch National side twice and also played five games against top Dutch clubs.

India qualified for the FIH World League Round 3 (Semi-Final) by winning all the matches of the Round 2 tournament held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi in February. The FIH World League Round 3 (Semi-Final) is a qualification tournament for the FIH Men’s World Cup 2014 to be held at Hague, Netherlands.  Continue reading

Karnataka Reach the Finals of 64th Senior Men’s Hockey Nationals

In the crucial match played between Karnataka and Punjab for qualifying to play in the final of the 64th Senior Men’s National Hockey championship, the hosts beat (2-1) Punjab to complete all their  league stage matches with top of table finish in the single pool, which also earned a place for the hosts Karnataka in finals to be played on 16th May.

Karnataka beat Jharkhand 3-1 in today’s match to remain unbeaten and stay on the top of Points’ Table of 64th Senior Men’s National Hockey Championship for Rangaswamy Cup being played at KSHA Hockey Stadium in Bangalore.

At the half time the score was 1-1. Karnataka  scored through their captain Deepak Beijwad who converted a penalty corner in 21 minute and Jharkhand equalized through Deepak Soreng who scored a stinging shot from the top of the circle which Karnataka custodian had no answer.

The 2nd Half saw rejuvenated Karnataka coming back strongly and made several in roads into Jharkhand territory. N. S. Rajesh picking up a solo run and went inside the circle and scooped over the charging goal keeper to give a lead in the 36th minute. The Penalty Corner specialist Deepak Beijwad scored once again in the 40th minute neatly converting a PC with a direct flick. Continue reading
