Hosts Belgium Edge Past India Women in #HWL2015 Rd3 at Antwerp

Playing their first match of the FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final 2015, India and Belgium gave a tough time to each other as both the teams maintained a good attack during the entire game. It was, the hosts, Belgium who managed to score the sole goal of the match, helping them win the game 1-0.

Since her debut, Navjot because of her skills as a midfielder has contributed through her outstanding performance on the field in every match that she has played. As the much awaited FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final 2015 is all set to commence from tomorrow, 20 June 2015 in Antwerp, Belgium, all the 10-participating teams are entirely geared-up to exhibit their finest skills and put-up their best show on the field during the tournament to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

On the inaugural day of the tournament, FIH Rank #13 India will lock horns with the FIH Rank #12 Belgium in the Pool B match. Before the tournament, India lost to Italy and Japan by 1-2 and 0-2 respectively in practice matches.

In the recent times, India Women team faced Belgium twice during the 2014 FIH Champions Challenge 1 in Glasgow, where they lost both the matches against the European team. Unique Number Caps presented to Men & Women Players by Hockey India

Hockey India on the sideline of hosting a Good Luck dinner for the Indian Men and Women team ahead of their departures for the upcoming FINTRO FIH World League Semi-Finals to be held from 20 June – 5th July in Antwerp (Belgium), marked yet another first in the history of Indian Hockey wherein players of both teams were presented with caps which has their own individual Unique Number and which stays with them for lifelong.

The numbers given to players are based on each player representing Hockey India since the National Sports Federation was incepted in 2009. While Gurbaj will be the 13th player to have made it to the Indian Men team hence No. 13 being given to him similarly Deepika with the No. 7 cap would mean she is the 7th player to have represented the Country under Hockey India.
