Junior India will participate in Sultan of Johor Cup 2015 from Oct 11

Junior Men Hockey of India will be participating on 5th Sultan of Johor Cup 2015 to be played from 11th to 18th October 2015 at Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This is the one of very few under-21 invitational hockey tournament in international hockey circuit, which is organized by Malaysian Hockey Confederation.

Defending champions of last two edition, India will be playing against 5 other teams to retain the title and make it third consecutive title. Indian Men Hockey Squad for New Zealand Test Series is Announced

Hockey India today announced the Indian Men Hockey squad for the upcoming New Zealand tour which is scheduled from 02 October to 11 October 2015. India will play a total of six games in the tour. The first two games will be played against New Zealand A and the rest of the four matches against the New Zealand’s National squad.

India to tour New Zealand to play 6 test series from Oct 2nd

Hockey India and Hockey New Zealand today announced a six match series between India and New Zealand scheduled to take place from 2 to 11 October 2015 in New Zealand. New Zealand (ranked 7th in FIH Hockey Ranking, i.e. a place above India) are yet to qualify for Rio Olympics, while the visitors had booked their ticket by winning Asian Games in 2014.

The matches will be played in Auckland, Nelson and Christchurch. While India will play the first two matches against the New Zealand A team the last four matches will be played against the New Zealand senior men team. For India the Tour will be in preparation for the all important FIH Hockey World League Final 2015 to be held in Raipur later this year, followed by Rio Olympics slated in 2016 while for New Zealand they will prepare for the upcoming 2015 Oceania Cup wherein a win there would confirm a berth for them in the Rio Olympics 2016. The 2015 Hockey India League (HIL) Auction saw some young Indian players getting a better deal by franchisees as each wanted them in their team. One such player was Nikkin Thimmaiah who post consistent bidding by various franchisees was finally grabbed by Dabang Mumbai for $67,000/-. Being regarded as one of the exceptional upcoming goalkeeper, Akash Chitke feels privileged to be part of Ranchi Rays and is looking forward to a wonderful learning experience with his inclusion in the League.

The Bengaluru-lad Nikkin Thimmaiah is remembered for his hat-trick against Australia in the 2015 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, where the striker helped his team to register a 4-2 win in the 3rd/4th Classification Match. The talented striker had been a key player of the Uttar Pradesh Wizards (UPW) for the last two seasons as he successfully helped complete the attacking line. With his new team, he will now rub shoulders with Gurmail Singh, Danish Mujtaba, Harmanpreet Singh along with German forward Florian Fuchs, Australian midfielder Matthew Swann and Irish goal-keeper David Harte in the upcoming editions. Japan edge past India to set up final against China in Women’s Junior Asia Cup

On the penultimate day of 7th Women’s Junior Asia Cup, Changzhou, China and Japan defeated Korea and India in the respective semi-finals to reach the tournament final and also claim a ticket to next year’s Junior World Cup. Malaysia defeated Thailand to claim fifth place, while Singapore slipped past Chinese Taipei to secure the opportunity to play DPR Korea for seventh place tomorrow.
