Ranchi Rays ready to host Dabang Mumbai

Post holding the defending Champions Delhi Waveriders at 2-2 for a draw in their last game, Ranchi Rays is eagerly waiting in the wings to take on Dabang Mumbai in the next match of Hero Hockey India League slated to be played on 28 January 2015, at Astroturf Hockey Stadium, Ranchi. While Ranchi Rays will be looking at winning this game in order to share the top position with Jaypee Punjab Warriors in the points table, Dabang Mumbai will aspire to register their first triumph in the ongoing League.

Jaypee Punjab Warriors edge past UP Wizards by 3-2

With a remarkable victory in the last match against Kalinga Lancers, host Jaypee Punjab Warriors continued their impressive run in the third edition of Hero Hockey India League (HHIL) and edged past Uttar Pradesh Wizards 3-2 at the Hockey Stadium in Mohali today. Keeping alive the hopes of the home fans, Jaypee Punjab Warriors were by far the better side on display as they dominated the match from the beginning to the end.

The Uttar Pradesh Wizards seized the early initiative and opened the scoring in the 7th minute through VR Raghunath, who successfully converted the penalty corner with a powerful flick to get his first goal of this edition. The first half of the match saw some remarkable skills from the Delhi Waveriders’ team as Akashdeep Singh was seen dribbling his way into the Ranchi Rays’ D, beating the defenders and the goalkeeper and pierced in a dramatic field goal, giving Delhi Waveriders a head start in the match by 1-0 as early as the third minute of the game itself. Taking their performance a notch higher in the ongoing Hero Hockey India League 2015, Jaypee Punjab Warriors defeated Kalinga Lancers by 4-2 at their home turf in Mohali at the International Hockey Stadium. Riding on Middleton’s Brace Ranchi Rays defeat Dabang Mumbai by 2-1

Ranchi Rays bounced back with a 2-1 victory over Dabang Mumbai in Mumbai after losing their 1st match to Kalinga Lancers. After conceding a goal in the 3rd quarter in Mahindra Hockey Stadium, Ranchi Rays turned the match to their side with the help of double strike from Barry Middleton and defeated the host team by 2-1 in the 4th match of the Hero HIL 2015.

In the 1st quarter, Ranchi Rays successfully kept the ball in their possession and dominated the quarter with their high-spirited game. They continuously attacked on the opponents’ half and created many opportunities, but they faced the strong defence of Dabang Mumbai, who restricted their attacks. Ranchi Rays got their best chance to score where they managed to earn a crucial penalty corner in the 15th minute.
