NEW DELHI, December 2: Hockey India League (HIL) has appointed the seasoned Barry Anderson as Tournament Director for the six-team franchise-based event to be held from 17 January 2013.
Hockey India Secretary General and Hockey India League Chairman Dr. Narinder Batra said the appointment of Mr. Anderson is a major step towards ensuring that the league is technically well conducted. “Together with Steve Catton’s appointment as Competitions Director, Barry’s coming on board as Tournament Director will make this a great event,” he said.
Mr. Anderson said he was delighted to have been appointed Tournament Director. “I am also looking forward to working with Hockey India, world class hockey players and team officials as well as some top class umpires and technical officials to make sure that the Hockey India League is well and truly a top-notch tournament. NEW DELHI, November 26: The Governing Council of Hockey India League has decided to defer the Hockey India League Players’ Auction by a fortnight to December 16 and the start of the Hockey India League to January 17, 2013. The League will now conclude on February 17, 2013.

NEW DELHI, November 21: Hockey India Secretary General and Hockey India League Chairman Dr Narinder Batra expressed confidence that the quality of competition in the inaugural edition of the tournament, scheduled from January 5 to February 3, 2013, would be very high and that the Indian players would draw a great deal from the event.
Releasing the list of 152 Indian players who have signed up for the Hockey India League Players’ Auction to be held in the capital in December, Dr Batra said Hockey India League was proud of having not only sparked interest in the hockey fraternity but also ensured more than 250 players, including over 90 players from overseas has signed up for the HIL Players’ Auction. NEW DELHI, November 19: As many as 24 Australian hockey players, including all 16 members of the squad that won the bronze medal in the Olympic Games at London earlier this year, are among the 91 overseas players who have signed up for the Hockey India League Players’ Auction to be held here in December in the run up to the six-team event in early 2013.

NEW DELHI, November 14: The Burman family, promoters of the consumer conglomerate Dabur India Ltd, has bought the Mumbai franchise of the prestigious Hockey India League (HIL) that aims to give hockey a new profile. The western megapolis joins Delhi, Lucknow, Ranchi and Punjab as the fifth team in the Hockey India League.
